Update

Update: I'm feeling alot better now. The goudge in my side seems to have just about filled itself all the way in. I have a doctors appointment in a few days. I'm supposed to be OK'd to start walking then. It's been almost 6 weeks. I had court a little over a week ago. One person involved in the crash showed so I had to bend over for one of the moving violations. I don't even remember which one but my lawyer got one of the "driving too fast for conditions" or "improper lane change" dropped along with the "driving with little or no tread on one or more tires" dropped too. I paid my lawyer and the one ticket. Together was less than $300. I got off on a few months more of court supervision. The good news is insurance paid off my car loan right away. The real bad news is my full coverage auto insurance only covered the first $5000 in my hospital bills. I don't know exactly what the total is. I opened a couple of them and one of them was for $15000. I don't even wanna know right now. I'm not only not going to be buying another RX-8, but I'm going to half to sell the Esmeril turbo kit I bought and file bankruptcy. My credit was going down the tubes before from being unemployed but now I'm totally screwed. I'm thinking of buying an old RX-7 for a few thousand dollars. That's about it.

thats why EVERY SINGLE OTHER FIRST WORLD COUNTRY has nationalized health care.

because when accidents happen, hospital bills run into the tens of thousands. a $500 tax increase every year for full health coverage is nothing...

I'm glad to hear that you're doing better. Actually, I thought about you a couple of weeks ago and wondered how you're doing. Also glad to hear that your attorney was worth the money.

Man, as far as the financial stuff, just take it a minute at a time.
You can arrange low repayment through a credit management service (most are free of charge). You can always get another car, don't worry about that right now, just get better physically and the rest will work out. (it always does)

From personal experience I can tell you your bill might be over 60K, How long were you in the hospital? How many CAT scans if any did you have? How much physical therapy you required?. I wrecked my 8 two months ago, all I got was a broken wrist and stitches over my eye. I stayed 28 hrs in the hospital and had 2 CAT scans. Total bill was 34K which includes all the follow-up visits. My car insurance paid 5K and my health insurance paid the rest. If it wasn't for health insurance I would be in the poor house.

Wow. I'm a Firefighter/Paramedic in your area and have seen worse injuries and even fatals with less damage. Good luck with your recovery. I know people have been saying that they're glad he's okay, but trust me, he's not "okay" until therapy is done. I hope your recovery goes well, bro. Be safe out there.

Wow man, glad you and you're passenger are alive. That's a nasty wreck. Hope you make a full recovery and everything financially works out. Easy for me to say, but believe it or not things could have been much worse.

Holy ****, that's a horrid accident.

Good to see you're physically OK, as in alive. Too bad you're financially busted. I'm sure things will even out, but it's going to a shitty road. Good luck.

Recovery has been slow. Today I advanced from 80% weight bearing on my left foot to 120%. This means I'm cleared to stand balanced on both feet. I still have to stay on my walker for probably another 2 weeks and when I walk push down on the handles ever so slightly to assist my left side. It sucks. I missed being able to take my 2 year old daughter trick or treating this year because I couldn't walk yet and my wheel chair got left in my mom's car. That was worse than anything because this year my daughter was big enough to walk herself when trick or treating. I am getting stronger though with physical therapy and I'm easing myself back into the gym too. Look out ladies!

Hey everyone! I'm back! And I'm "Back In BLACK!" Some of you might remember reading about the wreck I had last September in my red 8 when I totaled it (see link below), breaking my back and pelvis in multiple spots. Not only have I been all healed up, the car was paid off, I got my license back on Tuesday and on Wednesday I bought another RX-8. 2004 brilliant black 6M in sport trim w/ Pioneer in-dash Navi & BFG g-force tires (I like better than stock Potenza's.) The rest of the car is all stock. Just 30K on her and drives great. So if ya see me around Lockport, that's just me, Joliet Wankel. glad to hear you've recovered from your injuries and that you're back in a rotary.
BB IS the fastest of all 8's.

Glad to see you well and back in the driver's seat!!
Looks like things did work out after all.
Shoulda had a BB in the first place!!

Isn't it funny how you don't want any other car after you total your 8?
The car becomes a part of your soul.
I (among many others) am a living testimony...

Enjoy! (Safely)

Mike
