Here's a shot of both our 8s side by side so you can see the black beside a blue one.

Monte
Ya know I was buying the blue one for my wife as an anniversary present and she snuck out an got me one too.
The black one shows dirt quicker but after using the Zaino products, both clean up quick. We are luck though, we live in FL so the winters are easy. Biggest problem for both cars is bugs in the summer.... some of them can be real hard on paint.
Whats really fun is when my wife and I race each other.... last time we were running between 110 and 120... man are these things smooth....:D :D :D
is 1 for u and 1 for the wife?
Lordy. 2 rx8's wowza..
Hey, hows that black though? really hard to keep clean?
whats your location?

Black & chrome is a bit of a nightmare to keep clean but I knew that before I got it.

2010 Prius - Miss the 8
Monte, it's been a week of you posting that the next day you're getting the car. Trust me, just go to the dealership, check the car out yourself, pictures do no justice for the true beauty of the 8. When I look at pix of Green, it is just blah, but when you see it in person, wow. Or any of the colors for that matter... just wow. For someone that has been posting 2+ weeks of getting the car soon, I would think you would have test drove the car/seen the car yourself over and over to make an adequate decision. At least that is what I did... I saw all the colors in person, test drove auto and manual...etc etc.

Yep, has the appearance package on it...and the rotary accent package... with the black its hard to see the flares on the sides because of shadows...front lip is very visible though:D
Here are a few more shots for ya..
As far as limp mode goes...I ran her pretty hard tonight..and she acted up...here is the thread on that...

black or yellow, now I am so confused. Black is my favorite on just about any car, but I already have a black car. I guess there is nothing wrong with two black cars, but if there is any place not to have a black car, it is Phoenix. Also, there is a yellow with yellow leather here in town, which is very tempting.
And the Chrome Stock Rims are effing awesome! I saw them in the brochure, but I haven't seen them on a car yet.
Does anyone know how much they really cost? I hope $3000 was just a joke. You could just go get the stock ones dipped for much less.

jdwk,
I live in the valley of the sunstroke / surface of the sun (phoenix az to non-residents and I love the black. Sure it's a little warmer but hey....it looks so good! There was a red w/ the chrome rims at earnhardt mazda on I-10 and Ray Rd. A couple weeks ago with everything and boy those rims were AWESOME. Looked really nice. Alas cost prevented me from adding them.
No matter what color you get, it's a blast of a car. I do love the yellow too!.

Yeah, I've seen a lot more black cars than I expected out here.
The AC in my MX-6 kind of blows and not in the good way, so I wasn't very partial to the heat when it got over 110. Being black probably had nothing to do with it. I will have to get it checked out before next summer.
I was actually at Earnhardt's today since I had some time to kill during lunch. They had a dozen or so eights there but I didn't notice the red with chrome. Although I did notice the metallic red one with hideous 19" aftermarket rims. Why? Please tell me why?

JDWK,
I saw that one too....slight gaudy effect I would say. Have you looked at the yellow and blacks only? What about the Titanium? That would have been my second choice but my wife was all about the black. When I was looking, I only found four black RX's in the valley but the stock may have increased in the last month or so since my purchase.
As far as the AC goes, I'm pretty used to the 120 degree summers having lived here all my life. (I drove a car without AC for three summers and so I'm actually cheating a bit cause I didn't have a choice <grin>) I am more concerned with the effect the intense heat would have on the performance but I imagine that the exterior color wouldn't have as much bearing with a good tint job.
