Thumbs up Racing Beat Screens Installed

I've been doing a couple cosmetic mods to the car. So I decided to install the A/C Screen and Oil Cooler Screens. The overall process was very simple and Racing Beats instructions are pretty good and straight forward. It took about an hour and if I must say so myself, it looks pretty damn good.

Here are some pics of the process:

Lookin' good!

I did this EXACT same install on a friend's car yesterday (plus Revi & duct) and we forgot to take pictures.

Congrats on getting them installed on your car. This truly is one of the best mods out there for our cars. Worth every penny in my book...

Just did the install last week. Wish I would have done it last month. I painted my oil screen black. The silver looks good on yours.

Man, it's just a weekend for Racing Beat stuff... I did the same install as Jedi on Friday.

Damn, my screens have been sitting in the closet for a couple of months now. I need to get busy.

It's too hot down here...

You might have just motivated me. Thanks. I have been planning on painting my calipers red as well.

The install is actually super easy. If you're not afraid to take the bumper off, that is actually the easiest way to go about it. (bumper removal is less then 10 minutes)

If you're planning on putting the Revi & Duct in, I would strongly suggest doing the screens first.

Nice looking mod. It's hard to believe that it only takes a hour to do this...getting that bumper off looks rather intimidating. Does anyone know if this mod would interfere with the plastic hooks used to mount the official Mazda bra/nose protector? There are a couple of clips that fit in right where those screens are.

It can look pretty intimidating the first time you go to take off the bumper but it's HONESTLY quiet easy to do. (9 screws, a couple plastic clips, and 4 bolts)

I don't think the screens will get in the way but I'll ask a buddy of mine who has the front mask.

great job on the install and pictures... the screens will protect stuff underneath from rocks etc.- which is great. but, from a cosmetics stand point, i don't think i like the design. in many ways, that screen looks like the same wire mesh on house screen doors to keep flies & mosquitos out. (that's really a racing beat screen?!) i think they could've done better. heck, even if they just painted it a solid black it would've looked nicer. great job tho still...

I had the same concerns as you. But I ordered them and I have to say I was most pleasantly surprised. The "wire mesh" is obviously very high quality—thick and substantial feeling, impressive when you actually pick it up and look at it—not at all like a screen door! I also wondered about the silver color, thinking black would be better. Well first of all, it's a moot point on the AC condenser screen because you really can't see it unless you scrunch down to the ground and look into the mouth of the car. Now the oil cooler screens are a different story—they're clearly visible, and if I had an 8 in silver, titanium, red or blue I'd prefer a black screen. However my car is Black Cherry—nearly Black for all intent and purposes—and on an 8 this dark I believe the silver-colored oil cooler screens actually look better. I think the BB and Black Cherry 8's are so dark that a lot of the interesting little curves and details that make the 8 interesting kind of get lost and become almost invisible. So the silver colored oil cooler screens work, I think, as a nice accent to break up the big black "blob" of a car. (It's the same reason why I went with stainless steel strakes instead of body-colored ones—they work as a nice little accent or highlight to "break up" the dark mass of the car, if that makes any sense.)
