I know that it is not a regular automatic but its very own twin clutch design makes it in fact slower than other electrohydraulic gearboxes. I mean, the 8ms are a real number but what happens if you have to shift repeatedtly?
They can be the future of torque converters but on real sport cars i doubt they will equal other systems such as the various electrohydraulics. Less clutches = less dissipation, and that alone suffice to adopt one system over another, given that there's no difference between 8ms and 40ms in real life.

i told you to go do your homework. did i ever mention that DSGs have torque converters? what? no i didnt? OH THATS RIGHT I DIDNT! THATS BECAUSE THEY DONT.
DSG is the name given to a transmission developed by VW. it is called direct shift gearbox. and it has twin CLUTCHES. that means it DOES NOT HAVE a torque converter.
how hard is it to research before you post? it took me 5 seconds to find this page.

btw, over a 6 hour race, with hundreds of shifts, the difference between 8ms and 40ms grows significantly.

I accept the possibility that i didn't express myself well given that this is my second language.
By "it's an evolution of" i intended the very own use that fits the system best.
A dsg is not as sporty as you pretend it to be, LIKE the Torque converter.
Anyway, it looks like you're missing my point again. 8ms is the gear change time in the straights. Start changing often on a track, under loads etc. Usually the clutch is a problem, imagine having 2 clutches slipping, 2 clutches dissipating power, 2 shafts and 2 clutches then, it's like having 2 gearboxes. Is it good? dunno, but it is a solution to the torque converter as several articles state ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct-Shift_Gearbox ).
A real automated gearbox of a standard type is slower changing but simply fits higher requirements better. You have 1 clutch, a lighter unit, less dissipations and power losses whatsoever.
Trust me, i drove both kind of cars and while driving hard there's no comparison.

Oh man... that's just ugly. If it weren't for the suicide doors, from the outside it would barely be recognizable as an rx8. The interior is gross and doesn't match the exterior of the car. Rx8s are beautiful. Why some one would want to change it like that is beyond me. Just eeeeeewwwwwwww........

auto ftl. i stopped lookin when i saw that hahaha

The M/T is a greater performing car then the A/T. It's not that I dislike the AT, I don't. Hell, my daily driver is an AT but I bought an M/T RX-8 for a reason.
I know the A/T guys get bashed all the time and usually it's by uninformed retards but when one takes the time to look at the raw data, drive the cars, AND has years of experience driving both A/T cars AND M/T's then that is when the strengths and weakness of both systems is truly realized.

People just need to realize that autos are in a different segment as far as raw acceleration numbers go; but as far as handling, its still competes with the Z and S2K, etc.
Its just fun to stir up drama

those seats have the rivets for a good reason lol.. ever seen leather seats in other cars after 3 or 4 years ? .. they start to get those stress marks and creases that eventually lead to tears .. these seats help in minimizing that .. id still rather have them without the rivets though

i never seen this.
front looks ok, I actually kinda like the fender.
rear looks so so.
the interior ... eww ... the center console is the only thing that I like ... not the AT part tho ...

Front looks OK. The rear form, not the lights reminds me of a 2004 Chevy Impala.
The interior, well... It's been said... Too much! Someone overused the "stud" gun.
Engine bay: You call that clean? THAT \/ is clean!
