RI Photoshoot with 3 RX-8s

I went out today with Mike (RIWWP), Mike (otakurx), Ms. otakurx, Dennis (DMC27), and Seamus for an awesome cruise around Rhode Island. I took my new daily driver Legacy for some fun, but had to park it due to the excessive body roll from luxury suspension and monstrous weight. I hopped in Mike (RIWWPs) car and went for probably the passenger seat ride of my life. Can't wait to do it again, hopefully with the better handling car from my stable.

My girlfriend gave me a camera (Rebel XTi EOS with 18-55mm lens) for my birthday in November, and I haven't gotten around to using it so I brought it out to get some practice.

Here are the pics. Feel free to give feedback, positive or negative. I need all the help and practice I can get.

This one looks completely fake and probably over-edited, but for some reason, I like it a lot:

This picture wasn't my favorite and I don't really like all the excess in the background, but oh well (practice):

My girlfriend and roommate are both wedding photographers, so when I asked them how I can edit a black and white picture with some detail in color, they both snickered and out of disgust showed me how. I'm not entirely fond of it either, but at least I know how:

And my new daily driver '08 Subaru Legacy Limited (tsk tsk for me trying to keep up with RX-8s around the twisties in this)

If you live in the New England area and are ever up for a random cruise or photoshoot, let's make it happen!

Enjoy.

Nice. Yeah, the action shots are a bit too subtle at that distance. Ah well.

You're pretty good with the new camera already. We'll have to take a cruise down to Newport once the summer setups are on (or out of the garage) and get some pics at the mansions.

Thanks guys.

Josh- I am still up for doing a photoshoot. I have some spots lined up in the Providence and Fall River area if you want to make the trek one of these nice weekends. Maybe plan another mini meet, lunch, cruise, photo shoot day. Once I get the RX-7 on the road, we'll have to figure out something. The Cape run should have more then enough prime subjects to work with.

Mike- I told you to get closer on the action shots (exact words were use me as a clipping point, just don't clip me.) I really like the elongated action shot. (4th down.) I have a lot more pictures that I am going to go through tonight. I will post all of the pics I have up on my PhotoBucket later, so you can tell me if you want anymore or if you want me to edit any that you like. Let me know if you want any in a large format.

Dennis- If we can plan a week in advance for me to go to the garage to pick up the RX-7, I am up for anything, anywhere. Doing cruises in the Legacy can be hazardous to my health, so I'd prefer to have the fun car. Riding shotgun with Mike also may be hazardous to my health I am still playing the ride over in my head! So much fun.

So you say riding with me is hazardous, but having a driver completely untrained and inexperienced in drifting using you as a corner market isn't?

Yeah, wasn't about to risk that. Even the one point that I started sliding towards you, still 50ft or so away, I let off and immediately recovered. No picture would have been worth get you hurt. Maybe after I get some real lessons or a ton more practice.

Riding with Mike just -feels- hazardous to your health, he's never actually killed me yet. Actually he is a hell of a driver. Looks like you guys had fun, wish I had been there.

Mike: i'm just playing; I am rarely not a nervous passenger, but I was comfortable riding with you. The only thing that wasn't comfortable was trying to keep my butt planted on the leather seats. And I understand; I really didn't want to get ran over yesterday. I even got some decent shots at the distance.

blackenedwings- I agree; definitely a good driver. That's why he's doing track days with me this summer, right Mike?

Thanks everyone. If anyone wants any hi-res pics let me know.
