actually, just to set a couple things straight:
1) No, its not an imitation of the RX-8 hood. If anything, the RX-8 hood is an imitation of it because that hood debuted on the Hartge H50 well before the RX-8 hit the streets. The Hartge H50 is an E46 M3 with an E39 M5 V8 Motor swapped in. Here's a picture taken by the one and only //ACS330Ci:
2) No, its not a fake front mount intercooler. Its an Active Autowerkes Supercharging system. Check out www.activeautowerke.com if you want more info on that.
3) Kit is flossman, wing is Hamann, Rims are DPE. Pretty sick car if you ask me.

I don't think anyone is hating on M3's... just some of us think that particular body kit looks like crap. Plenty of 8's I've seen on this board also look crap because of overdone body kits. I would love to have an M3... but I wouldn't replace my RX8 with one.

And if you want to know whether it's ricey? The only thing you can call ricey is the wing. I can take it or leave it but i think it flows nicely with the kit. Is the kit ricey? Not at all. Its actaully a kit designed for M3 GTR racing cars. Nothing ricey about GT racing in my mind.

I think it looks sweet, its pretty hard to make a European car like the BMW E46 look ricey. Damn near impossible unless you add a huge battle-wing or something. Nice car. And thats no imitation RX-8 hood dude...
