RX-8 Chrono

I finally managed to purchase one of the 888 chronographs that were delivered with the first 888 RX-8 in Germany. It's an automatic chrono made by Sinn (Germany) and instead of a second hand it features a rotor in the small second display, which should also help answering those typical questions about how the rotary works.

There's an unlimited edition with yellow (instead of red) accents as well: Sinn 303 RX-8

Yup - but 9000 times slower than the original.

Edit: 3000 times of course, it's the crankshaft rotates 9000 times.

Concerning the price, you may try your luck at eBay, currently there's another one for sale (link). During the last month, four of these appeared at eBay Germany (quite many, cosidering that there only 888), probably because people expect good prices near christmas. Got mine (unused and still in protective film) for €888.88.

The eccentric shaft performs the equivalent function of a crankshaft. It's a reasonable substitution.

There was someone who asked the seller if he would ship to Canada in that auction.

Was that you?

ReaL nice Watch. I want one, but dang expensive. I'll consider it when I'm willing to spend lots of money on a watch instead of my car.

The unlimited (yellow) one is €1490, or roughly $1800. The limited (red) one is exactly the same except for the color, but the problem is to find one, especially outside Germany. That's not exactly cheap, but it's a great watch and I think as such it will keep its value.

Ha ha, yes that was me. Were you Germans making fun of us Canadians? Hey, I've always wanted to see a video of the little rotor in action, can you do a quick one? I was planning on doing that if and when I get the watch.

No, Germans usually make fun of people from Austria, but not Canadiens. You're too good at hockey. I guess some people (private sellers) don't like to send valuable things over the atlantic for questions related to custo, insurance etc.

The movie idea is interesting, but the rotor is sloooow. Maybe sixty pics assembled to a movie would give a better impression.
