RX-8 in Need for Speed Underground 2
Hey everyone,
I've been reading this site for a few months now, lusting after the car. If everything works out right I'll be sitting in one in two years, probably a sunlight silver with (maybe) the autobahn kit. I've recently been playing Need for Speed Underground 2, and the car I beat the game with , was, of course, an RX-8. I thought it was pretty interesting how the game was fairly faithful to the car's attributes. It didn't accelerate extremely well, but I found that I'd always be passing cars after I got up to speed, and that thing just stuck to the road. The car absolutely owned in Street X (an autocross type event with lots of turns and few straightaways). Anyway, I thought I'd post a pic of the car I won with. Is it ridiculous? Yes. Is there any chance I'd do anything remotely like this to my car in real life? No. But does this ricerific car make me smile like crazy? Absolutely.

Its weird the game sux *****. But it seemed teh texture guys and programmers made all little things to hint towards a rx8. Like in lots of the stillf fram tac pics there the rx8 layout
I think they wanted mazda to pay attention and give em free cars.

I've been playing it on my PC. I've got a pretty decent system, so the game looks fantastic. The reflections off the cars and wet roads, the cool light trails... fun times.
Another cool thing I noticed. When I was racing around, doing the track runs, especially, I noticed that the auto transmission (there's almost too much going on in that game to be bothered with shifting) pretty much always keeps the tach above 7,000. I watched that time attack video of the RX-8 on Leguna Seca, and same exact thing. The driver would shift at a speed that would put him right at 7,000 rpm's in the next gear, and that's exactly how the game did it.

Personally, I think the RX-7 is the best car in the game. The RX-8 is pretty good, but the RX-7 handles better, and handling is everything in this game. You can probably beat the game with just the Miata.

I 've played GT1, GT2, NFS 1 and NFS 2. All I have to say is that the game sux as a driving simulator. Even the first GranTurismo game on PSX was far better. LOL
However, it's great fun, that ricer style, the hydraulics and the nitrous... It shoud be named FastAndFurious 'the game'. I'm really curious how good the GT4 will be

Has anyone figured out how to see your archive of magazine and DVD covers in the PS2 version of NFSU2?
I'm partway through the game, I've done a ton of Magazine covers and 3 DVD covers but I can't go back and look at them after I take the pic. Where are the shots stored?
Any help would be appreciated.

I guess it was a marketing call to change it to NFS since NFS has a bigger fanbase and has built its reputation already. Also, the "I-hate-F&F" crowd was growing bigger, so calling it NFS would still get that crowd to play the game. Great decision for their sake.

heh, I too beat the game with the 8. People are just kidding themselves if they think this is any kind of serious sim. They did a great job modeling stuff etc., the sound is cool, physics decent, but GT4 will obviously blow it out of the water as far as sim goes and that's fine. This game was designed around a different concept and to bank on the "tunah" culture and all the $$$ that surrounds it. Do you really think a blinged out Escalade would have any kind of a chance against some hyper-souped up EVO etc.? I really enjoyed this game as an enthusiast as it lets you do stuff you really couldn't do before, it was fun "building" the audio system, putting the kits on, picking wheels, playing with the hydros, I had a blast with all that and that's what gaming is all about, having fun and getting lost in something for a while. Did some of that stuff look hideous? sure it did! But so do a lot of the tricked out rides I see in real life so it really doesn't matter. This game is super fun as long as you don't take it seriously, if you're looking for something uber-realistic and closer to actual driving than the GT series is going to be your best bet. There are also a couple of rally games that are pretty realistic but with those your choice of cars isn't as varied as GT. Can't wait until the rest of the games hit liike Forza, Enthusia, Midnight Club 3, GT4 etc.. it's a great time to be a gamer right now with all these titles flying around.

I really like the game. It keeps getting better as I progress. I have an RX-8 that just dominates everything. I installed the Lowenhart double 3 spoke rims and painted them black with a red lip. Full Greddy turbo setup etc. I love this car in the game.
I just traded in my 240 for a G35 to start modding it. I don't think that my 8 will ever reach full bling b/c I refuse to install spinners on the car.
I ******* hate spinners on anything.

My thoughts exactly... I liked the idea of having the 8 in the game, then I began to realize that in order to progress through the game that I had to decorate it like a freakin Christmas tree. The game sucks donkey *****.

no, need for speed is always the ricest racing game. i still remember the first need for speed, they had a ******* T-Rex as a hidden car. and Need for Speed Hot pursue is another ricer's must, chasing by cops, doing stupid **** with all the exotic cars, ran road blocks, halicaptor bombs . in the world of Need for speed, all you need is keep drifting, jump high into the air, drag to the max speed, and short cut as much as you can.
