the RX8 enters corners faster than an S2000, but doesn't have enough power for fast corner exits...
having test driven almost everything (the skyline coupe is the G35 coupe which = 350Z) on that list except for a Type R, but I've driven the new Si, the RX8 is def underpowered, it needs more torque...
but as an attest to it's great handling, look at how it compared to the WRX for laptimes...only a second slower. the WRX doesn't handle as well but has MUCH more power. Remember we're not talking hp, but under the curve, if the RX8 made the same hp but say 1.5x the torque it would be much much faster.

Point 2, that WRX is a base WRX just FYI... so the rx8 has not only more WHP stock, but less weight on its side. For you to complain about that is also ridiculous...
Point 3, 'IF the rx8 had torque.' You make it sound all too easy, you think if the mazda engineers could have produced more torque from a stock unit that they wouldn't have? All NA rotaries have this torque issue, I guess you just don't have much background on the history of rotaries and their development in general then to make such a statement. How things are right now, it doesn't have any torque, and won't magically gain any NA. So don't make such a dreamers analogy about the rx8s torque. That's kind of like my next door neighbor in his civic SI telling me, "if I had a turbo, I would kill you on the highway". Talk is cheap.
and one more thing for the record.. g35=/=350z. If you need a nissan lesson let me know, I'll be more than happy to explain why they aren't remotely close to the same model in the good old USA.

The A-spec rx-8 is only available in Japan, it makes about 273 hp if I'm not mistaken, and yea, it does pwn the s2k, but its only available in japan though, seems like it would be an all mazdaspeed part for us folks in the USA.....
