hehe.. I can see that this will be the first of many videos to come. With the amount a new interest in the car and new members, the tenor of the board has certainly changed.

this is a car it is not a rolls royce its a mazda. it was designed to be driven. honestly it took a bit to figure out how to get it to do a nice burnout. i did the first one. my mechanic who owns the car did the second one on video. exactly it is his car and he can do what he wants. if nobody beats on the car they will never break. or will they. some of you are scared to figure out what limits are but i guess you should be. anyway this was a basic test to see how close it is to an FD if it will break a PPF or diff during a hard launch. you guys have no idea who i am but i have a FD and that is my mechanics car and testbed for the shop. anyway enjoy the videos and stop being pussies with the damn rx8's

it was meant to be driven? By that you mean spinning it around like an a$$hole? I don't care if it's you or your mechanic, it's pretty stupid. It's meant to be driven FORWARDS.

Good job Vosko.

As one of our top touring car drivers used to say, "drive it like you stole it"

There is nothing more pathetic than seeing cars designed to go fast, being driven like pussies, and proud of how good their fuel consumption is and how long their tyres last. Wimps.

Sure enough, it's his inalienable right to thrash the motor before it's even broken in, just as it's his right to nearly throw the car into the left-hand kerb as it finally hooks up at the end of his burnout. Lucky all the smoke was there to hide his embarrassment. :p

So, was that plain water or something more slippery that you poured all over the rear wheels?

You guys need to chill abit on this forum.
First of all the mechanic and owner of the car is one of the best rotary mechanics on the east coast. He has built scores of 10sec and faster drag cars, as well as 10 sec street cars. I think he knows what he is doing.

Second, What is the big deal about doing a burnout? I could see if it was in the rain, then yeah "woo hoo" any car can spin tires in the rain. But on dry ground it's nice to see what a newly designed car can handle.
Third, as far as "break-in" goes, that is a load of crap. I can say this from experience. This same mechanic we are talking about built the engine for my FD. Big ports, pinned, ect. ANYWAY. I got on the car hard from the beginning, and dynoed it with 200 miles on it. Guess what???? STILL GOING STRONG. The whole key is doing a good job building the engine, then comes tuning. 90% of RX-7's that blow engines are caused by poor tuning. The rotary engine does not like to detonate, and can not handle it like a piston engine can.

So to all the haters, sell your rx-8 now to some one who will actually use the car to it's full potential and enjoy it.

ya gotta admit it was a prettty sweet burnout, whatever the ramifications or what you think of doing one. how many gears did he run through? but ohh the tires! i guess since he is such a highly prized mechanic he can afford them. i don'y have that kinda money to lose right now, i'm looking to buy a house this month.

RX8Lover you've got to be kidding me! You sound like the kind of guy that drives slow in the fast lane, speeds up when someone tries to pass, and throws a hissy fit when jiffy lube charges you 30 bucks to change your oil. Buy a geo metro and leave burning rubber to real car enthusiast.

Good job! I cant wait for our next speed trials!!!!!!!! Ive been tempted to do a half *** burnout myself (yours was good mine would be half *** lol i still have the fear factor on me till 3k miles only 300 more to go tho !!!) hehe but your right this car was made to be driven and its no grocery getter either.

I dont think anyone really has a concept of what this car is capable of yet and many i believe will be pleasently suprised.

gas mileage if you care about gas mileage you shouldn't own a sports END OF STORY!

anyway. there will be much more pix and video of the car. like i said the only way to learn is to crack a few eggs. in the end everyone benefits. just think about it! what i learned from racing my FD has made A LOT of other fd's more reliable and keep them running on the streets and tracks. anyway you guys need to not be so full of yourself and just enjoy the damn car. i only drove for it a combined 10 minutes and 2 minutes was doing a NASTY burnout. it was great. also doing a burnout is great practice for drag racing.......doubt any of you guys will do that you are too scared

Still waiting

I'm still curious what the wheels were doused in. You can plainly see the runoff in the foreground - was it just water?

*yawn*

"Oh how terrible, he burnout his tyres"

Come on! If you can't enjoy a little messing around like this in a *performance* car, then what kind of petrolhead are you?? Perhaps you should sell your RX-8, and buy a nice electic car..,. oh and hug some trees whilst you're at it :p

I know I'll be having some "fun" in my RX-8 when i get it :D (well, my other cars have to put up with it - so I don't see why the RX should get a break :p)
