Rx8 with no exhaust on

Sooo if you were wondering sort of what it sounds like here it is. I just made the vid because i was so utterly shocked at how loud these rotary engines are! With the stock exhaust they're so quiet! Remove the exhaust though and man.. these things are deafening lol!

Anyone who'd drive a rotary with no muffler needs to be shot and pissed on.

I hope your engine was warm when you were doing that. Lame.

you will never capture the reality of it with a video cam or audio tape, it is truly a combined physical and emotional overload experience

When I first turbo'd mine I ran it with a straight dump pipe for like a week. It actually frightened people when I started it up near them in parking lots. Sounded like a weedwacker from hell

Haha! Yeah sorry I just realized that. And that dent btw... Ugh.. I specifically park my car out in the middle of nowhere so that people DON'T hit me when trying to park their cars. So I walk out of Randalls and when I get to my car, somebody has ran into it and drove off >>. It's fixed now though.

And yes the car was warmed up lol. I NEVER shut her off without making sure she is warm, and I never get her goin without warming her up

No exhaust

I don't know if they still do, but my RX-4 didn't have an exhaust manifold. For emissions reasons it had a "thermal reactor" that had a fresh air pump.

I traded it at 100,000 miles and it was running too rich at the time. This made the thermal reactor VERY hot. This caused the exhaust flange to warp and blow out the gasket and eventually melt the pipe off.

I had to drive 100 miles to the dealer like this. I couldn't stand the noise. I found some paper in the car, chewed it up and made ear plugs.
