See it is annoying when someone uses immaturity and acts like a smartass with useless posts that just instigate drama. Wow, now you understand how YOU make OTHER MEMBERS feel. Life lesson learned, maybe I am a psychologist, and maybe now you'll be a member that isn't just an annoying troll.

This isn't a life lesson this only shows that you don't have any patience and nerves. But i'll GTFO for now :)

Too many people will try to copy his style if he disclosed his offset and tiresize. People just have to experiment and mess around with offsets and tire sizes for themselves these days and what works best for them.

See, that's total bs. I understand that people want to be unique, but in the automotive customization field, there are a ton of ways to be unique. I would feel honored if someone shared my taste in style and wanted something similar for themselves.

And besides, RX8s aren't like Civics or Focuses where there are a million of them running around. I rarely see another RX8 on the road. And even when I do, they are all stock looking. So what's the big deal with sharing some info.

I like the way his car looks and how meaty and functional the tires and rims look. Do I want those same rims? No. I don't like the red stripe on the wheels. It suits his car though. I also don't share that much interest in black wheels. They look good on certain cars, but I'm much more of a silver wheel fan.

So even if I wanted to copy his style, it would still be different because I'd find a way to make it different. If he doesn't want to share, then that's his prerogative, but keeping it to yourself because you're afraid that someone is going to steal your style is lame. It's inevitable that someone else will end up with a similar, if not exact, looking setup.

DarkLord7854 11-12-2008 06:13 PM

Unfortunately, most people aren't that original and would do a straight copy just because you think it's cool and people like you, so they think if they do the same, people will find them "cool" and stuff.

People are stupid. Tis life.

No offense to you, but that's one of the lamest excuses I've ever heard. We all know that there are copy-cats out there, but you can't escape it. And why should we even give a rats ass about someone who copies us to try to be cool? You are either cool or you aren't cool. Fact of life. And what's cool to someone might be the stupidest thing in the world to someone else.

If he doesn't want to share, I'm not going to cry over spilt milk because I know I can figure it out on my own and find what works best for me. I was just interested in his set-up, that's all.

My question now is, how does he handle taking his car to shows where I'm sure he gets bombarded with people asking about his car. Does he tell everyone it's top secret and he can't tell them? Because if he does, he probably comes off as the biggest douchebag in the universe.

photo chick 11-12-2008 06:30 PM

no, bryan's actually a really cool guy. doesn't act cocky or like he's the best thing to ever happen to the 8 community. i've never asked about his set up, but i can't imagine him being a jerk to those who ask. he's pretty helpful, but i understand his wanting to keep it a secret, and your wanting to know the secret. not everyone is like you and has a better imagination.

There's a slight difference between going to a show about cars and sharing details of your car with other enthusiasts and sharing details about the long hours and days you spent acquiring just the right parts with some random person being a troll on a forum.

The excuse is perfectly valid in my mind, your opinion differs, doesn't make my reasoning behind it any lamer, nor does deedub's reasoning behind not wanting to shre details of his car's setup make him a douchebag, it's his property, he may feel like divulging certain details and omitting others, he reserves that right as an inbdividual.

Also, the more people copy someone's idea and uniqueness, the less unique and differnt that idea becomes and what was originally that person's pride and joy has now become everyone's norm.

i agree totally. working on an 8 is a learning experience, i know this for a cold hard fact. It takes alot of patience to figure things out on this car and sometimes we keep our little secrets to just keep people guessing. I know i wont tell everything i had to go through with my swap, not because im a dick and i dont want to tell them. its just because i do things that i know are going to work for me and make me happy, what makes me happy might not make someone elses day. In that case i just give them a general idea on what to do so i dont have to take the blame if they dont like the way it turns out.

Symbioticgenius 11-12-2008 07:20 PM

If it was something important to the community as a whole, like what PSI of boost on xxx kit were you running when the motor blew. That is something which I believe should be made public knowledge.

What type of rim and tire setup you are using... not necessarily pertinent information and can be passed at ones own discretion.

Thats like a random kid running up to you asking where you got your cool shades from, you would ignore him. Plain and simple.

I still don't know why there aren't photoshopped pictures of RX8s with 17' wheels.

I didn't mean to imply that he is a douchebag. I don't know him, so therefore I can't judge him. So I apologize if I came off as a pissed off troll. That wasn't my intended effect.

And trust me, I'm no troll. I just tend not to post often. I visit this site about everyday, multiple times a day in fact. I've just never seem to post a lot.

I just come from a different community of cars, so I suppose it's just going to take me time to adjust to the RX8 community. Prior to this I had a Focus and everyone shared their experiences and modifications on the forum that I frequented, and still do frequent. So it's just a different culture.

Like I said before, if he wants to keep his labor of love a secret, I'm not going to get upset about it. It's just going to push me to find my own answer. I love the way his car looks (wheel/tire stance). That's something that I wanted to pursuit with my RX8, so I just figured he'd share it. His decision not to is his alone and I'm not going to prod him for further details.

photo chick 11-12-2008 11:20 PM

:p: no worries. i totally understand. i just didn't want you to think that he's the type with a big head because of his car. and hopefully you'll find your answers soon :)

it took a little while to come up with my idea of a perfect offset and sizing. I believe the whole 19 inch lip low pro tire combo is played and been done to death. I wanted to do something completely different that hasnt really been done on a RX8. And your right about me not really posting info on my wheel sizing. It's so easy to just copy and pawn things off as yoru own these days. I remember when I had my 19 inch volk black TE37's people would pm me daily begging for the size. I probably replied to 5% of those e-mails..LOL.

agree!

I have seen more 8's on here with 17's. Come out dam it!

i dont see anything wrong with what gil said, just his opinion. you guys got to remember sometimes on the internet when people post things and others reading might get the wrong impression, when the post was not intended to disrespect anyone.
