Several RX-8's had cat back systems installed. At Racing Beat
they cautioned that Mazdas factory muffler was well engineered.
Only small gains to be had there 2-4 HP. Got to hear the catback on this car as well as the Corksport on the Black RX-8. A through pipe to eliminate cat gave 12 HP, may be possible to gain some of this with the use of high flow cat. Consensus of tuners was that it
should be easy to get another 20 hp with minor mods, CAI and exhaust but real gains will have to wait till ecu is hacked.

I saw the racing beat exhaust and asked if I could buy it and the guy said it was made the day before and was just a prototype.
He said it will be released in a month or so

That sir, is the RotaryNews.Com project car. We had just installed the wheels for the show. Look for suspension upgrades and other goodies soon. The car will begin to get features up on RN.com very soon!

For those that saw it, what did you think of the wheels?

Great pics, thanks Mike!!!

I couldn't make the show and I live in Costa Mesa! I had my 60 Coupe De Ville at the cruise for a cure show at the fairgrounds.

Were there any vendor booths there and do you have updates on aftermarket mods? (intakes, exhaust, etc.)

We JUST got the wheels in last Thursday... Big props to Automotive RnD (a vendor at SevenStock) for the hookup!

The wheels are Work VSXX 19 x 8.5 40mm offset front and 19 x 9.5 42 offset in rear.

I was looking hard at the Work LE37K's... but Bern and Rishie twisted my arm to go with the VSXX's.. (I'm not a big fan of rivits, they sometimes overpower the design of the rim)

The car should be at the Mazda Nationals this weekend...

Work has some really nice wheels but I am not too fond of the ones on this 8. They look a little too busy. Just IMHO.

Great car still tho!

I was going to the BBS mesh style (various rotaries have sported that style rim) and think these come close.

The LE37K's look similar, just a little less busy...

Yeah I agree I like those alot more. I think a clean design does alot for a rim and the car.

I really liked the Work Meisters I was about to get them for my RSX before I was tempted by the 8 !

I don't agree... I think the WORK wheels on the car, just plain rock! I was blown away when I saw them on the car.. especially the rear set up!! Sorry Dan!!

My girl and I cleaned them before the show... It wasn't too bad, but the surfaces are still brand new and not eaten away by the dusts and road crap. I can see how they could get really bad, but the spaces in the wheel are large enough to get to with a spray and cloth.
