INSPIRE; I found these 2 pictures on your website, I was wondering if you got more details on this car, and even some more pictures. It looks like a custom widebody kit to me..

heh, awesome, haven't seen that truck in about a year or so, wonder if they'll ever finish it. Air ride is not just for show anymore, that chick's stang that was part of the Forza 2 deal on Speed channel etc. can lay out on rocker almost, and was still hanging with the vette etc. at the track.

and how baout the added weight to your car? compressors, valves, tanks...they will never outhandle a car with a good suspension setup. Trust me, i've ridden in a good amount of cars/ trucks. suv's with air ride, air struts or air bags, and they all ride like a 86 cadillac..they belong on mini trucks..

i have as well, I've been into mini-truckin and air bags/hydros since people were still using air shocks and crazy ladder bar type homemade concoctions to slam their shizzle. My buddy drove one of the very first "body dropped" trucks, when he did his there were maybe 2-3 in the show scene that were done, and airbags hadn't even come around yet. A small compressor doesn't weigh much at all, nor does a small tank, it wouldn't take much to fit a smal compressor under the hood where my air box used to be, and a small tank in front of my box behind my back seat. Valves wouldn't be an issue either, nor would lines as the technology has changed a lot since it first came out. Airride makes a shock with the bag in place of the spring, it's billet aluminum, very well crafted and lighter if not as light as a conventional shock/spring. Weight wouldn't be the issue, the only real problem would be the valving and adjustability, not to mention possible alignment issues/tire wear from driving around cambered etc. Of course, the easy way around that is to get aligned at a certain psi, and then make sure to drive with that much air in the system. I'm just saying that it's not what it used to be, and that the mustang in my pic has air, prob rides like a caddy', but yet it still could hang on the track and strip with other cars that had more traditional setups, including a Corvette C6 which is probably the best habndling Vette to date. (and Mustangs don't handle well to begin with). I think with some trial and error and the right setup, an 8 (or some other sports car) could be setup with air and still handle/ride awesome, it wouldn't be an easy thing to do, but I think it's entirely possible based upon what I've seen and learned from speaking to people in the industry, and the technology that's coming and is also already out there. I for one would love to park it, air it out, then air it back up and go tear through the twisties like it's nothin', I think that would be cool, even if it's not everyone's cup of tea

Those aren't Volks, Im 99.9% positive they are SRR D5R's. The spokes are skinnier than the Volks, and I personaly have the D5R's on my 8. I think they look good on an 8.

i agree, but who would spend there time and money into developing such a kit? Not only that it would be too expensive and most rx8 owners are cheap and wouldn't want to drop that kinda dime on a setup like that. Not to mention basic maintenance. There's a high possibility of bags leaking or popping, oh well, like u said not my cup of beer. cheers

Looks neat.
What a shame.
Generally, that is something you do to a car at the end of its useful life, not on a vehicle with a perfectly good suspension and certainly not on one with a suspension as nice as that of the 8.

But, to each their own. Wanna race?

Did you even watch the show....how did she hang in there with the vette on the track? They never had one match that included both cars being functional...? The second race was a joke....the vette couldn't get above 2000 rpms the entire race. First race, they couldn't get the mustang started....forgot gas or something important.

Oh well, should have been a good show, but it was pretty much trash.

Air ride, sure...cool for show, not go.

It's Air suspension.
The wheels are SSR D5R
Bodykits INGS
With that many speed humps and potholes here you dont get a chance to speed up so might as well do Air ride.
some might agree, some may not, but u guys should see this car in person when
parked with the lowest setting. one time we parked in this shopping mal next to another modified 8, the owner jaw dropped even lower.

some more pics
