Speedsource RX-8s at Lime Rock
I have some videos up on youtube of the 3 rotor RX-8s in the Rolex Series at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, CT (5/28/2007). Done with a dopey little digital camera but for what its worth:
8s in the "recon laps":
recon lap
Good lord they sound nice:
Speedsource 8s leaving paddock
Short clip of the 8 breathing fire:

8 was in 1st early. Vid cars lining up behind pace car:
1st place
Speedsource 8 pitting

the more things change
yeah i watched the whole race. they could not get a grip on the track
plus the the lack of low torque doomed them in the end. but still the way
they were running the first part of the race i thouhgt they had a good chance
to finish better then 11th...

Yeah I was there watching the race....
Nick Ham was doing a great job driving, towards the middle of the race when they needed to pit for tires he was all over the place.
I don't think it was torque they were lacking, the car actually had mechanical issues IMO. He steadily fel back and could keep up. By the time they pitted and Sylvan took over you could noticably hear the misfiring.

Correct No tears.... It was pretty fun to watch the Mustang go up in Flames. Well catch fire at least. It encountered some body panel damage on the right side so they had that new speed tape holding it together, well thats where the exhaust is too sooooo it was a matter of time and POOF fire fire fire! Nothing too major though.

Oh well, great day anyway. Only I need to get a real camcorder for these things. Pics will be up at some point and j67345 will have some pics as well.
Already some from the day here

Speedsource is now tied with Farnbacher Loles Motorsports (Porche GT3) for first place in the series. The RX-8 did have the best lap time (not that it helps when it finished 11th): 54.745 seconds.
Here is a better look at the 3-rotor flame:

I could hear the #70 misfiring coming out of the esses. It was in gear just after passing the corner crew, 2 to 3 misfires under load. They must have been having some having some issues. They just kept falling back toward the end of the race.
