Now big ugly lights are one thing... THEY at least look functional...ugly-functional, but functional. You gata respect that I guess.....but this Horny-crab is STYLED into the hood, CUSTOM painted to match the ahh 'car' underneath and cost a damn sight more than a pretty penny over JUST lights for a seein dawn da road.

There simply is no excuse for this ... I nominate this insect for the "Ugliest Car of the New Millenium" and think it has a high percentage probability to actually WIN :D

Y'all need to look for pictures of Porsches when they raced the 911's and 959's in the Paris to Dakar rallye and the series that became the current WRC. They had a 4 light setup that fit between the headlights that was very similar. It didn't look nearly as hideous when it was attached to a proper sportscar.

I would like to point out that no one in the picture seems to care to actually look in the general direction of that car...

J/k... don't flame, I know why those lights are there. Rally racing is awesome. I love watching them do it in the snow. It's crazy. I can't believe they don't all die.

It's a both car for PIAA, they make the lights... If you look at any rallyx or Prorally across the country about half the cars are Subarus so it makes sense to use one to display their rally light pod. As for your last comment the jury is still out :p

Yes I understand PIAA is heavily involved in rally racing, and I have more respect for WRC then probably any other racing series... but intrigue 8 was trying to insult another board member by stating this car is in WRC, which it is not.

But his point was that rally racers use them and they get what functions best, not what looks the best... A lot of RX-8 owners seem to have a problem with the concept of function over form :D

One of the limitations of conventional centermount light pods is that it blocks the flow of air to a top mount intercooler, WRX's can't even run a "leBra" due to the redirection of airflow. I wonder if this is what PIAA was trying to solve for. I do however agree that it is not a very attractive solution, but hey if it works they more power to them. Maybe it will allow privateer teams to run less expensive top mounts more affectively with aux lighting.

On the topic of Function vs. Form, I love my WRX, but it will never be as pleasing on the eye as an RX-8. Thats apples and oranges. Can't we all just get along?

Why did you revive a year old dead thread? That's like reviving sanscrit as a written language.
