SWC and Grand Am races at Watkins Glen

Just wanted to share my pics from the Grand Am and Speed World Challenge races at Watkins Glen this past weekend.

Day one pics and vids are uploaded:
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v80/rayn...202007/day%201/

Watkins Glen has an awesome garage with two dozen or so bays. The track housed the Speed World Challenge team there for the weekend. I filmed this walk down the garage to give you all an idea of the sounds, sights, and hustle and bustle of professional racing. Click on the pic below to view the video.

More pics and vids to follow, including pics of the SpeedSource RX-8's in action. Stay tuned!

Well yes and no. The three rotor is not really known for torque, but their main problem of late has been the extra 55 lbs that they got saddled with by Grand Am rules.

SpeedSource's strength all this time has been that their lighter car is easier on the tire wear, which leaves them with traction late in the race while the others are struggling for grip.

The last race wasn't too bad considering the 70 car's suspension failure. The 69 car finished 8th, I think which is respectable. Besides, In Dave Haskell I trust. He works engineering marvels with those rotaries.

By the way, we're organizing a Mazda corral for the ALMS/SWC races at Mid-Ohio. We're going to auction off racing memorabilia for charity, have raffles, meet and greet with the Mazdaspeed teams, be up close and personal with the cars, and do a pace car controlled parade lap or two around Mid-Ohio. So check out that link, if you want to have the same experience we had at Lime Rock and Watkins Glen.

The last batch of pics have been uploaded to my album.

Click here to see my view of the GT race from the pit area.
