thermographic pics

In any case, it seems obvious to me that the fender vents only work with the car in motion. This series of photos doesn't prove to us that the vents are for decoration only.

the side verts were still cold, this is litterally right after drinving back and forth for lunch, do a run down the private road where i work at 100 mph, turn in, park, jump out and take a pic. the vents should have had some residual heat. I've literally seen it pick up handprints on walls minutes after you take you hand away.
I can do pics anytime. what do you guys want?

the following apprears to be wrong.
There is no wrap on the A/C hose up against the fire wall and the tube shows 75 degree max. That's bullshit. You can burn your hand on that tube.
The carburator does not appear to be hot. This is also bullshit.
Go take a drive, then open the hood and put your hands arounf the TB. It's scalding hot and will scar you.
While the pictures are good from a relative perspective it was not a infared camara as the one that the military and fire departments use. Therefore it's not that accurate at all.
Are you telling me the only thing that cools our cars are those small oil coolers?
There is no heat from the front at all. This is why I think the camara is based upon some pre-programed light meter. What we are seeing is light reflectivity based upon heat.
I use to work for a company that made infared/heat camaras. Maybe I should swing by there sometime

the scale is auto adjustable, you can fix it, but then stuff whites out. it's very hard to do a thermographic scan without a dynamic scale. you look for hot spots relative to the surroundings.

another cool thing is seeing your dog's paw prints on the floor

I'll get over it.

After a little investigation in my engine compartment, there doesn't appear to be much way for any air to make its way from there to the side vents... on each side I see two fairly small holes that would allow air to escape to the fender vents. One is maybe two inches across and the other somewhat larger, at 3-4 inches across. Both are fairly high up, near the hood. I can definitely see SOME air making it through those holes, but not a lot.
I'm sure I'm not the first one to have snooped around in there looking, but it's new to ME. So there.

If you take off the inner wheel well plastic you can see that this inner area is simply normal car construction. That is, the plastic liner keeps as much moisture out of that area where the 'vents' are to limit corrosion. The metal is only barely painted beyond primer and some overspray. Sure there are a couple of ways air can get in there to escape from the 'vents', but they are limited to a small hole or two from the engine compartment, and any residual air that might make it up and over the plastic fender liner, and that's not much. There's lots easier ways for hot air to escape into space.

Look at my points.
No heat from the A/C line, that's BS.
No heat from the throttle body that's BS.
Go drive for 20 minutes and then open the hood and touch them.
Not knockin the images or camra, just trying to keep it in perspective.

Exactly. They are functional. Otherwise they would not have holes in them like many non-functional scoops and such. If you shine a light through the holes in the engine bay at night you will see the light coming through the vents. Do they force out a ton of hot air?...no.
