If we did, we may have gone out and bought a STI or a EVO VIII." implys that if we liked the big high jumbo wing, some of us would have gotten the car, not anything else attributed to its charachteristics, you just stated because of the wing. therefore you implied we are basing our judgements of cars based on how big/ugly their spoiler is. you may not have intended it, but that is what you implied

I'm not just talking about Texas, I was talking about national stuff, I will admit most of my experience as far as working shows is here in Texas, but they were national shows with vehicles from all over the country. I still don't agree that you need that stuff to stay competitive, if you do then that is the mark of a pathetic show, outside the world of Cali import shows, you need impeccable workmanship, flawless paint, immaculate engine bays, and the bottom of the car cleaner than the top, not just frills and thrills and stuff thrown on all over the place. More isn't always better

edit: I'm not trying to make this a flame war or offend you, i just don't agree with your view of show vehicles, and the only reason I disagree is because my actual hands on experience has shown me different, my bad if you take any of this the wrong way.

hey, to tell you the truth i think alot of these cars are REDICULOUS and i never said whats here is what i like! this is not my personal VIEW of show vehicles rather the facts of what you need to stay competitive in large modern import tuner oriented car shows in california, i dont tell people what and what not to do to their show cars this is what i've gathered from going to countless import shows and seeing countless cars being judged here, thats all

I dont know how someone can just buy a veilside kit and win 1st place... i mean is that it? so does that mean i can just dish out maybe 6000 dollars, get a full body kit and a wing and win first place?! wow! that must be a great feeling i mean... he probably didnt even install the kit himself...

honestly i think you deserve a prize if you've customized your car or done some really nice mismatching of kits, but if you just go out and buy one veilside full body kit, you dont deserve a trophy. If your gonna go to shows and compete, do something unoriginal and maybe customize your own kit or mix-match some stuff.

im 18 and i HATE that wing. what engine mods do you have? suspension mods?

An actual question here.... Are there any internal mods to the car? I'm talking intakes, suspension upgrades, a turbo, etc.? And I don't just mean dropping it an inch and a half.
When I see a car with a kit like this, and no modificaitons under the hood, I think "What a f'in waste. All flash, no dash." If I'm at a car show, and I see a car that looks very similar to stock, that's the one I'm going to be attracted to most, because it is likely there's going to be something special under the hood of that car (not that there isn't in cars with a body kit).

that's cool, I can see what you're saying now and that makes a bit more sense, It's pretty sad that they have the more is better standard at these shows, it would force people to really be creative if the standard was set higher, but then again it would also scare a lot people away if they knew they had to actually do something cool, instead of just slapping on a ton of stuff :D

i do believe most of you here looks STOCK, that's why you hate seeing monster looking rx8 like this one.
and i think his car look way better stock, the blue the carbon fiber and the veilside.....
it's perfect, what's wrong with it? i really don't see any problem, yea i admit those chick are very ugly they looks like ****** in thailand. but it's all about the car , the wing looks good, what's wrong with it? you call it rice if it's not functional, but if it's from veilside, you'd better believe it's all about AERODYNAMIC, this kit is rated very high in both quality and look in japan. for people who think this car looks RICE, or WHACK, simply pass this thread and move on , if you think round and smilely front end is your cup of tea then stay with it forever. if you think wings are rice then don't look at it.
and yea maybe he's really 17 or 18 and his parent pay for all of those, but at least his parent can afford it. what's wrong with parent buy stuff for son??????????????
i've seen a guy here on the forum whos parent buy the car for him, i don't see he got shoot like this one does.
my last point is, are you willing to put 7-8K on your car like he does? if not, then just stick with your stock cute smilely and shut the F' up. at least he got himself into the show and win ! can you !!???

Nothing is wrong with his car. It's his car. Like you said, I'm sure his parents forked over the money for his car. No biggy there. But if you read the thread, you would notice that he is getting ridiculed because of how he thinks his car is better than anyone else's... as if he did some work to it. Instead of being modest, and accepting some critisms, he bashes people by saying he's an authority of fixed up cars. Sadly that is what you get when you're naive and spoiled... you think you're invincible and the world is your oyester. He ASSumes like YOU do, that we are jealous in anyway. (Pause) Think about that for a second.

1) Majority of us own the same car, so how can we be jealous?

2) Most of us bought the car ourselves, so OBVIOUSLY we have money to spend on modifications.

3) If we can afford the same things he can, yet we don't spend money like he did, why would we be jealous?

1. He posted it with a cocky attitude that said "hey, i'm going to slap them all in the face with this" so we are going to look at it, criticize it and have opinions about it. It became everyone's right when he posted this thread.

2. Just because something is made by veilside doesnt mean it's aerodynamic or even appropriate for the car. That wing is anything but aerodynamic. The downforce it would create would be appropriate for a car with 5x the horsepower of a stock RX8 and even then it'd still be ridiculous. The only thing his car is gaining from that wing is weight. Quality and looks does not always equal aerodynamics.

3. The guy modded his car and won a trophy and here he is sharing pictures of that fact with us. Good for him. His attitude about it sucks, but hey, what can we do about that?

There were a few very slanted remarks made but if i considered it a flame war i would've closed it.
The main reason it's still open is because people are stating their opinion and the flaming has ceased.
As far as matures acting like 16-17 year olds, it didnt start off as a very mature thread and so it's only a downward spiral from there.

I think it's rather mature for a thread like this. Ajax pin pointed it on the details of how this thread got offtrack. It's basically him expressing his opinions.. other people expressing their opinions... then he comes back, bashes us for not liking the same thing he does, expects us to be like him, calls one of the members out on how a "REAL" show car should look like, etc etc...
