Track Video RX-8 / S2000

Two vids, high definition taken at night on an Italian track (Misano Santa Monica). Each video (more or less) is from the perspective of either 8 or s2000 but of the same race.

Here's the first one from the 8's perspective: 24.6 MB
VIDEO #1

The second of the s2000: 39.2 MB
VIDEO #2

I really enjoyed watching that. Not because he passed the S2000, but more of the way he drove. A real pro.

The S2000 wasn't doing very well, seemed to miss several apexes and/or it wasn't set up well. Looks like the 8 ate his lunch pretty plainly in the corners and in the straights. I thought is should be the other way around? Or maybe they were just playing

Nice vids though!

Did anybody else notice the flames shooting from the 8? 3:22 into the second video you can see it during a downshift, again at 3:46 during an upshift. (just a couple examples, it happens frequently)

Yes, you often see the 8 flame in these track video's. If I recall correctly, Hymee's video's show more of the same.

I'm almost postive it's Hymee (90%), sorry if a made a mistake. More night track stuff, the driver almost loses it but does a great recovery. That wasn't Hymee, somebody want to chime in?

Yes, after posting I did some additional research and discovered Monza is a Formula 1 track and apparently a very fast one too.

The track looked really small. I'm surprised it's considered fast. Guess it was the darkness.

The heel-toe downshifts the guy in the S2000 was doing were largely ceremonial or something. He blips the throttle, the car goes back down near idle, then the clutch drags the engine up to speed. There was no rev-matching. The RX-8 driver was just *way* more experienced.

Nice videos!

Yeah, you can tell they were either just playing around or the S2000 driver was definetely not as good as the RX8 driver. The S2000 should pull away more and it did on the longer straights and the S2000 driver shifted WAY too early and was in the wrong gear half the time.

Really cool videos though.

It's called being catless and running a little rich, it doesn't have much to do with being a rotary.

Finally he passes and hits 141mph!

then he starts driving like a race car driver and keeping the Revs up.

What? What's this? 164mph!!!

Man that Sc200 really flies.

It has the power not only to catch up quickly but pass at anytime the driver wants too!

Nice car.
