Hey I bought an auto and I love it man. It really depends where you live, I just can't do the manual thing through the city traffic every morning when I'm already pissed off. I would love the extra power and quicker 0-60 but it aint worth it for me as an everyday heavy traffic commuter. I test drove the manual and wanted it real bad though.
You guys are so anti-AT !!
Go easy on us auto owners!!

You don't get your 3 minutes back, I'm taking them for myself.
I drove an Auto for the heck of it. It was ok, but definitely nothing that tempted me. Missing that extra ~2K of rpm range really hurts with an engine like the rotary. Even the auto FD's fell short to the manual tranny ones.

Who has an AT now????? I'm even more confused because you've seen my car.
Because you tried to take my screen name is why you don't get your 3 minutes back.

Been meaning to sign-up, but haven't decided whether I'm going to do two days or just one. Reason being, I'll be traveling quite a bit this summer and I'm going to have a lot of expense from that and would also like to do a few track weekends. Either way, I'm definitely going up there for the whole weekend.

i used to have an auto silver 04 rx8, but i traded it in for a manual 05 while rx8. believe me you can really feel the difference. especially the pull from 3.5k rpm. i had it for about 4 months now and i'm still enjoying it.

From 5.5k all the way to 9k the pull doesn't really keep pulling in the MT. 5.5k seems like max torque and the engine just gets louder in the MT and The AT.
Does this sound right? I think i said pull too much.

without even getting into the specs of speed, torque, hp etc... i prefer the MT over the AT because i feel as if i have more control. whether its real or simply a placebo, leavin a little squeal when shifting into second just cant be beat ...imho.

Stuck in a love triangle
I guess it must be the automatic because at the end of the video you hear the guy putting his RX-8 into park and not lifting the e-brake. My question is how did he manage to peel out with the automatic like that? Also it sounds like he chirped second. The automatic I used to have never did that and it was next to impossible even to burn out on a launch yet this guy did it twice in a row.

But AT transmissions also weigh more (about 22 pounds), and like you said, the difference of a higher redline and 41HP add insult to injury when stoplight racing.
