I'd give it a few weeks before going too crazy out there....still a lot of ice. But when it's warm and clear....whoah!

Nice pictures. (Your avatar does seem to provide some stiff competition as far as curves.) I've been to CO a bunch of times and there certainly are a lot of good driving roads there. Unfortunately I never actually got the chance to drive them.

Here's a couple pictures from my favorite road:

Sorry, I know, wrong car, but hopefully its not too obivous what it is ...

Lots of elevation changes, curves, and great scenery. Best of all its only five minutes away from my house. :D

Wow!! Awesome pics/roads!! We don't have those kind of roads here in Texas. But, then again, we don't have to wait 4 months for the snow and ice to clear either

Went to pikes peak in Co. Springs a few years back, killer drive up the mountain. I would love to do it again, this time in my 8:D

Whitehot - those are great pics and some fun looking roads. I'd like to visit Hawaii some day.

DMP - Great picture. I have many of your pictures. You're pretty good with the camera. BTW, I'm using Goodyear Aquatreads for those "wetter" roads :p

RXRenesis - Pike's Peak is in Colo Springs, CO. I've never driven it. It's 14,140 feet above sea level. You can drive in your car to the summit. However, the entire road isn't paved. With over 500,000 people making the drive each year, it's crowded. My personal favorite is Mount Evans, west of Denver. Also over 14,000 feet. And the road is paved the whole way. Lots less people too.

Yeah, it definitely isn't built for traction It is an awesome drive up to the top. Much better than taking the tram. Last time we went up, we took a 15 pax van and it was interesting to say the least Do they still have the race up Pikes Peak every year??

Whitehot - that's Waiamaia canyon (sp?). I drove it myself, but in a jeep wrangler. The "Grand Canyon of the Pacific" is truly a breathtaking spot. If I drove the jeep "like I stole it", I'd have flipped several hundred feet. Nice pics!

Engilsh: heh couple weeks, try 2 months, generally the end of may is when most of the snow is gone, plus there is always the storm that puts down 4 feet at the end of April... and the couple snow storms in June, but Cheyenne might dry dry out quicker.

Been chatting with my parents up in Wyoming, I guess it has been snowing were they are for the past 2 week straight, about a foot of new snow on the ground.

kreuznach, ever been around Fremont lake? The Windrivers have some nice 8 roads. If ever around Fremont lake, take a drive up to Elk heart, the peak is about 13,800, paved all the way, twisty, and at top a nice view of the Windrivers, and not a whole lot of traffic. Or if you got time, lots of trails to hike, most going to the hidden lakes in the area. You most like new all the already, just included some info for some people that might be interested.

Teton pass also sounds like a good 8 road. Been to the Tetons alot but have been on the pass. I think it is paved all the way too. Next time I'm up there I will have to take pictures.
