i'd love to have shaved door handles, that might be the cleanest part!

edit: where are you going to take your car to get inspected?? i need to go but don't trust anyone now that i have a full body kit! also, does audiofx do window tint or should i just go to rebreu?
Last time I got it inspected was at Beasley South off 35, not sure my car will ever go back there again after the way they raped my engine compartment the last time I lost my engine, they tore it to shreds, scratched up my strut bar, tore my firewall and fender blankets all to hell, also broke my radiator filler neck bu that didn't turn up until a few months later after smelling coolant for weeks but not seeing any seepage anywhere, it was a total hack job. I'll probably wind up going to a quick lube off manchaca that I've been going to for years, or there's a shell station on slaughter ln about a half mile east of manchaca, I've had good luck with both of them. Audiofx has a person they can call that does the tint for them, from what I've seen he does pretty good work, I would also look into Sun Tint, maybe even custom sounds if they still do it. Mine was done over 5 years ago by custom sounds and so far so good. (they are a bit pricey though ugh) Rene at Rebreu is who did my doors, I bought a door off a wrecked 8 at a junkyard and used the skin off of it so we could match the curvature perfectly etc.

Really really clean... nice job , what I see from these pictures, all you need is a milkyway sky above you, I don't know how do they call that exactly, but this is just a rough translation... They do it from plexiglass I think, put light on it, and it really looks great.

Good luck with the future projects

I've fought with doing something to the headliner, but really, our whole concept was to try and do something custom and have it look somewhat stock. There's areas I could have added more graphics or painted or whatver that I left alone on purpose, I didn't want to do to much ( heh lol) as I wanted it trick but not gawdy. I don;'t think it would look right if it had like a black headliner or something, it'd be so dark and gloomy in there, the factory pieces help the custom stuff stand out more in my opinion.

really? how so? i don't mind if you don't like it but I don't have vinyl splatted all over it, I don't have gawdy wheels or a terrible bodykit, I don't drive it like an idiot and I don't street race every car I run across while wearing sunglasses at night so can you elaborate a bit?

he's probably referring to the interior. no way he's referring to the outside, that's extremely clean. the inside, with all the lights and designs and tv's and playstation, etc. is what i'm guessing

yeah I figured as much, just trying to see how custom hand painted/hand laid/sanded/whatever interior work that took millions of hours to fabricate, design, build, etc. is equal to a God awful cheesy movie franchise, plus I like joking around anyway, even if it's at my expense sometimes. (heh) In either case, no big whoop, I like to hear why people don't like something just as much as I like to hear when they do, it's always good to get a full perspective, sometimes It can even lead to me making improvements I might not have thought about too.

edit: it's probably worth mentioning I don't drive the car like it sits in the photos, when it's set at ride height the wheels do actually sit a bit more flush, I just dump it for shows etc. and the wheels tuck in due to how the suspension works.
Yeah man, I really enjoy your car, it's something we don't see too often here on 8club. I browse the VW forums all day for work, it's nice to see some bags over on this end every now and then too

ran across these from last year's Sema show coverage where cardomain basically ragged my car claiming that nothing I did was "functional", funny how I was just driving it the other day on backroads rocking out to my favorite tunes and all...right...it's all gimmicky...just for show...

not knocking the insane amount of work you've done to your car, but I think 90% of the population would agree with cardomain

yeah, you're probably right, at first glance it looks all show and no go which is the price you pay sometimes. Really though, I do drive the car, and we designed it all with functionality in mind, obviously I can't watch the screens while driving of course, but other things like the amps in liquid, the rotating ball enclosure etc., those are actually functional, there was a purpose for a lot of the stuff we did aside from just looking nifty.

I like the custom artwork - been thinking about that myself. The overall contrast between the plain exterior and the wild inside is fun - and fun is what it's all about.

I'm bumping my own thread with a question, seriously considering a suspension change so here are my thoughts:

Air has been fun, but honestly, it hasn't been reliable at all. The ride is ok, but with my current system, finding a good drive height/psi combo is nigh impossible. Some other things I've been thinking about is that my current suspension cost me 2-3 magazine features at Sema due to a failure (one of the rears punctured), it then cost me another opportunity with Pasmag as it took forever to get it fixed since the original company I was working with basically kept sending me stuff that wouldn't work so I had to build my own rear setup. While I love being able to lift it at the touch of a finger, and I love parking it slammed, I miss driving it regularly and I'm tired of it having issues with the suspension, I mean, even today I noticed some new problems with it after taking it out for a drive. (ugh)

Long story short (well, long story long I guess lol) I've narrowed it down to 2 coilovers, at least I still have some adjustability and I won't have the same problems I have now. The 2 I'm looking at are the Stance and the KW V3's, I'm open to others, mainly I'm looking to go a totally different direction, I want it low of course but I want to get it handling better than it ever has and I want it sitting right at the same time if possible. I won't be going to as many shows any more, and for me to do the air ride up right (with someone like airrunner) would cost me over 4k so this is why I'm leaning hard towards pitching the air and dong some nice coilovers, maybe some sways etc.

Anyway, if anyone is still reading after all this (sorry), I'd love to hear some input. I plan on keeping the interior and all mostly the same, just want to do something low maintenance wise with the suspension.

Here's how it sat before the air for reference, I would wind up a hair lower than this with whatever coilover/static setup I wind up with. (of course lol)

feedback appreciated, thanks!

Stance is better for height adjustment...they can get lower than almost every coilover for the rx8. They are good for street driving with a bit of autox/track

KW's are much better for the track and autox. Adjusting the dampening for the KW's is more technical since you can adjust the rebound and compression independently.

Thanks, I've been searching/reading up on them both, one thing I'm having a hard time finding is a good pic of an 8 with the Kw's dropped etc., I guess it's silly to ask which one rides better since all that is adjustable anyway.

I think I'm starting to lean towards the Kw's, only a little bit more than the Stance but not nearly as expensive as re-doing my entire air setup, I found this pic of a TT that looked pretty nice, I'd be plenty happy to have mINE sit like this as an end result.

I hear for Stance the first time now, but from my experience, what you pay is what you get. I was driven in friends Opel, with some Summit coilovers, which were hard and they kept the car really really stable in the corners. Later he bought H&R coilovers for the same car. Not that they have only hold the car even better, but the ride quality was improved. The car was more stable, but it seems to me that he also returned a bit of comfort to that story.

One is sure, you can't go wrong with KW

yeah I've gone as low as the car can go just short of cutting it up etc and I won't do that so my next move is to be slammed but livable, I think I can accomplish that with the Kw's, I still like the Stance as well but I don't mind the idea of paying a little more for better quality/valving etc. from the v3's if that's the case.
