Wham Bam Thank You Ma'am (Rotary accident)

Well it was bound to happen, bad things come in three's so far it looks like I'm number two (BigO's car accident is #1 btw ).

See today I was driving along nice and relaxed (for a change) and came upon my luvly local rotary that I have to use to get to my friends house. He called me up no more than 20min's before hand saying he made up a piece of cable wire for my gf and I could come pick it up. So there I was driving along doing a steady 35mph around this rotary since there was traffic and it didnt allow me to push it further (once did 50mph around it late at night, and man did she want me to go faster but I didnt lol) but again I was in a relaxed mood and didnt care to anyways. So there I was coming up along the last bend and there I was putting my blinker on to get off this rotary and out of the right side of my view did I see this nice Jaguar start to pull into the rotary. I grumbled to myself for a moment saying "..dont even think about it ya dumbass.." and I honked my horn letting the person know that they had to stop cause of oncoming traffic. Well the person didnt stop at all and yeah since I was getting off my angle led me to ram right into her front drivers side panel. I hit my brakes and blew my horn as I connected with this person and all I could think about was "Not again!!" then followed by "My *** is gonna get rammed if I dont move!" the person moved to the side of the road followed by me. I called up the police and they shortly arrived. While I'm in the car waiting for the police to show up, the owner of the Jag gets out.. and sure enough she's eldery (but of course) and she looks over her car then mine and slowly comes to my window and knocks. I roll down the window and just say "I'm on the phone the police are coming" then roll it right back up.

Now the police officer was young most likely about my age (28) and right away he's eyeing me with discontent (think that is the word I'm looking for) as he ask's what happened. The woman starts to talk and the Officer looks to me and says "So you rear endeded her?" and I reply with "No sir I hit her front fender since she was coming off of Rt1 and I was on the rotary." he changed his demeanor after that thankfully.

So now I'm in the market for a new front end (or so I hope. Other randome details, the woman was nice but didnt say "I'm sorry" or anything like that to me, the accident was happened at/around 30mph if that and the car is still drivable though I wont be thrashing her aorund any twisties for awhile.

I know.. I didnt wish to tell you over the phone
I already talked to a friend who works at a bodyshop and gave him a heads up that ordering these rims with the center cap shall be a major pain in the ***. The rim is rashed pretty badly btw Chris, but I believe the rubber underneath 'em saved my *** from making the accident worse.

Tomorrow going to the autobody place to get a estimate and see what they think will happen then monday I'll be going to the insurance company. Placed a email to accolade about their front fender/bumber combo with the MS v2 kit. I was orginaly thinking Kenstyle but having to wait a month if not more with my baby looking the way she is, is just to much.

Any suggestions on bumbers would be greatly appreciated since at times I'm to narrow minded. Vielside is out of the question since Shinka and Chris are already sportin' 'em.

The last of my photo's and Chris you may wish to grab a hanky cause your gonna cry most likely.

So yeah I think the old lady was kinda nervous since I was taking sooo many photo's haha. Still in disbelief since I havent broken down and balled my eyes out, thankfully a few of you including those localy have pointed out I'll be making my baby better in the long run.

Oh and Shinka yes we call 'em Rotaries up here in NE, while taking with my friend I cracked a small joke which only I understood. "Yeah figures I get in accident in my baby on a rotary of all places." I laughed and he just looked at me funny till i said "...'cause I have a rotary engine bill..." he then got the joke and chuckled for a moment lol.

there's always the option of the replica autobahn although there are quite a few on the boards running those. i was thinking of going that route too but i feel like there are a few in the northeast/new england area that already did that.

Old + woman + handicap license plate = mobile accident mobile. Wonder how many people she's "bummed" in the last few years.

Damn, sorry to hear about this Kevin. Is this the rotary that leads to the Norwood center? Rotaries and old people don't mix well because most of them don't understand that the drivers in the rotary have the right of way. Which shop did you take it to btw?

that sucks =\ I'm not even sure if I can see damage on the jag... you got the bad end of that deal, though her insurance will have to pay... anyone else getting worried? isnt that like the 4th or 5th member to be in a wreck of some sort in the last week or 2?

It's the Rotary that leads right into Norwood Center. I have a family friend that works at Clay (or is it Clair bah) Collision Center so I'm gonna bring it there since he said they are alright about ordering aftermarket parts and such. I've heard some are not to keen on that so I figure I'll go to a shop that will give me what I want.

^haha.. "Hate the 8 Month" gotta remember that next Aug.

Oh yeah forgot in my last post. I took it to the Appraisal guy, he seemed rather well out of it but he was older than dirt. Head was constantly shaking along with his hand, was surprised he could operate the digital camera. Said I should have the appraisal by the end of the week.

Now getting the car to the Autobody place after this will be a major pain in the *** after I get the appraisal in the mail. My new job sucks in that respect. Gonna have to try to figure something out like possibly having the gf taking the car down there while I'm at work.

Whoohoo

Well just got the appraisal in and yeah its looking like its $1,650 worth of damage. Though after I have the bodyshop adjust it its gonna be looking like 2k worth. Reason's being is that the rim they have listed to be replaced are my old 16" ones and as you guys can clearly see those arnt 16's but the Dark Chrome 18's. They also listed my clear corners as the oem amber ones but the bodyshop guys said they might be able to just sand it down and shine it up nice.

Some odd notes, the guy listed my headlight as a loss a $404 value btw wtf?!? lol Also the fender liner price he has listed is totaly wrong unless the shop is gonna get it at a price of over $30 cheaper than I could at my dealer if so then damn what a markup. Oh and the OEM fender aparently cost up near $300.

Gonna be dropping the car off tomorrow and also calling up this woman's insurance company since I am gonna need a rental from her cause I dont have rental on my coverage (thought I did but 'eh). Oh and since its 1k worth of damage I'm filing a report tomorrow also, thank god my brother is a police officer gonna ask him to get that police officers *** in gear to file the report quick and cite that old lady.

^ The one you pointed out to me. Its grown on me alot that and the other one offered I think would take awhile since the person doesnt have his other kit ordered yet, that and might clash slightly with the fenders which I've definatly fell in love with haha. If I'm wrong in that assumption Chris you got my number and give me a call ASAP, just not sure how we'd be able to swing the whole payment deal since to get the money myself I'll have to have Chase sign it also and that may take awhile (ugh!) unless the bodyshop could cut him a check for it. I dunno again to complicated on the surface atleast.

Well I went to the bodshop really quick and the said they marked the bumber not as a lost but as a repairable. But they said it could be marked as a lost eventually bah.. so I'm nixing the fenders/bumber and going after the front bumber only so Chris tell Kel to check his PM's lol. Though I found it kinda strange the bodyshop guys got kinda worried about the quality of bumber and also the fenders saying most are crap and blah blah blah since its not metal. Felt like telling him to shove it but I didnt since I dont know alot about bodywork but I know most of the kits out for the 8 are of high quality and arnt cheap like the Civic's bodykits.
