What do you think? Painted rx8 myself ;)
Well, I finally decided to repaint my rx8. I didn't really like the entire front end being carbon fiber, it looked messy. so I decided to tape a bunch of it off and paint the whole car. here are some pics. I live in massachusetts, and I'd be interested in checking out some shows in the area.
Side Pic
Front pic, you can see where I taped off the carbone fiber
Looking down at hood to see the rest of the fiber
Another front shot
Tail Shot
The paint was called sunset red, it's a 3 stage candy over pearl.
Here is a cool shot of the interior. I litterally fabricated everything myself.
Fabbed the pillar pod and installed a 4x20 graphic LCD using my CarPC to control.
When I'm playing music it shows tracks and equalizer. when i'm not. it's car stats.
Center display's Music, GPS, Gauges, XM-radio, movies, and internet though my phone.
Turned Eyeglass holder into Rear view Cam
Center LCD flips down and Rearview cam flips up for conceilment.
Now I just have to do more engine mods,

Agree'd...but I think it was just taped off to leave the CF.
I couldn't agree more. You go through all the hard work of making a clean CF interior and then you leave a cord hanging like that. Zup wit dat?

Yeah, it's off by a little bit, I can't bring the hood down anymore, and I can't bring the bumper up anymore.. I'm at a loss..

yeah that fit looks off where the hood meets the bumper and also on the passenger headlight area. those fogs do look a little out of place, maybe by the oil cooler area they would fit in more.
the color looks really cool and those electronics look nice on the inside. whats up with the tarp?

Kudos for the $ and time spent on this ride. Interior gadgetry is sweet, the CF color patterns are cool as well. Everything else is a bit off IMO. Kit is off in spots, huge gap at hood, fogs dont mesh at all. Stock wheels/exhaust paired with an aggressive kit, hood, CF parts and custom paint job?? Just seems like things were done out of order or something. No offense, just an opinion.

those horizontal lines of CF at the top of the bumper and back of the hood don't really fit in. it would look nicer if you painted those too. also if you were to do some contrasting pinstripes on the hard lines would look good too, just to separate the painted parts from the CF better.

Nice Job, looks really good. Where in Ma. are you? The Summer Nationals is coming up July 4 weekend. It gets around 5 - 6 thousand cars, although not to many imports. I brought my 8 up there last year just to get the premium parking. Not to many shows around that I know of. There is one in NH every that the Viper club puts on. They invite the 8's up to it. I went last year and got best in class.

Took about 2 weeks to paint, I started from the doors back, and let that dry for a week, then took apart the fenders, hood, and bumper, taped them up and painted those seperatly. after the paint was on, I removed the tape and cleared over the whole thing. Let that dry for a week. then wetsanded with 1000, then 1500, then 2k to remove the orange peel. then used rubbing compound, then moved to polishing compound.
as far as the gap is concerned. I might need to find somthing to use as a spacer. in there. I can't bring the hood down anymore, and I can't bring the bumper up. mabey like a quarter of an inch, but not enough to fill that entire gap.. gah.
as far as the grille, I kept it silver because I was trying to keep with the contrast of the carbon fiber. Black might work well too.
I actually like the stock wheels, was thinking of having them chrome dipped in a few weeks. I have a guy that will do them cheap without sacrificing quality. so I can have them done cheaper than buying new chrome rims. what do you guys think? am I better buying new ones? or keeping the 8's chromed?

Props to you for new ideas and hard work, but I'm not liking the exterior. Feels like the curviness got lost with all the new lines you created with the carbon fiber and paint job. Interior does look good, second that question - whats up with the tarp?
