What happens when a Cement Mixer meets an RX-8
On my way home from work, literally 3 minutes after I left next to our wonderful 18 lane expansion highway and a cement mixer who didnt see me drive right into the side of my car. He apparently didnt see me at all, didnt know that he had hit me and he didnt even hear my blaring my horn as he kept driving into me. Fortunatly the company that he works for will be paying for it. The guy from the company was extremely nice and helpful.

He was in the far left lane, I was in the Middle, he wasnt changing lanes, just pulling into the Construction area on the left. Everyone was stopped at the red light as well, I wasnt moving when he hit me. Technically I was in his blind spot to me it looked like a Big wheel and a front bumper.
No airbags went off as there wasnt really an impact, it was more of continuous pushing.

I don't agree... while it looks nasty, that's not a bad damage at all. A competent body shop will fix it so that you can never tell anything happened. The rear door must be replaced anyway, the rest can be fixed fine.
I remember many years ago a similar thing happened to me - I was at a gas station stopped next to a semi because someone was blocking my way and I was waiting to be able to drive past. All of a sudden, the semi driver decided to move and his huge front wheel hit the door of my car, right next to me. He probably didn't see what he's doing, so he kept pushing some more until he realized that something's not right and stopped. Was about time, hehe.
It was pretty scary seeing that wheel come towards me and trying to push me into the ground...

If they replace they rear door everything else should fix right up. My last car, an IS300, has similar damage when a tech backed it into some garage equipment going quite fast. Everything came out fine in the end. i wouldn't be worried if you find a competent repair shop

I spent quite an effort to customize my car (no body kit but other things) and with that damage, I'd have no problem with getting it repaired instead of replaced.
But then again, I know a very good and trustworthy body shop where I live... if that wasn't the case, I'd be more vary.

Well. I guess you can put it that way....
But I just can't justify myself to love the car just as much as before.
and it's also kills the resell value..
