What I did with an RX-8 seat, some wood and some PVC pipes.

Thread updated.
now... The making of...
Started out with the seat base.
Doesn't look very hard, but honestly the whole process, I think cutting the PVCs were the hardest part, they are a lot tougher than you might think...
Painting... well duh...
Keep it tidy or your wife/gf WILL kill you.
Measuring for height.
Semi-finished. Now it's down to gluing it all together with PVC cement. Now while cutting the pipes were "hard" as in... tiring if you don't have a reciprocating saw.
Gluing it was technically harder cuz it only takes 3-5 seconds for the cement to be hardened and you don't really have much time to make small adjustments so you gotta stick it in, twist it for minor adjustments and that's it. It'd be better if there are 2 people working on the gluing part.
And finally it's applying the vinyls, or not. They are pretty expensive IMO, but looks really good in person.
Thank you ya'll. I hope you enjoyed it.

Nice setup! I built one with a G27, but I used MDF(stuff used for subwoofer boxes). Works great but not nearly as clean looking as yours. I'm going to carpet and paint it when I find the time.

Yea I was determined to do the inverted setup, it allowed me to get the pedal hieght and spacing perfect. Initially I had measured and put them precisely as they are in my vette. But then realized that it was only comfortable when wearing shoes. So I ended up redoing it so it felt the same while barefoot
Yah its an office chair Actually, I had one of the arms on that chair break while the chair was basically new. When I called in for the warranty they sent me an entire new chair(minus the legs). So I had a great leather seat and back to use
I freehanded it. But i got a lot of ideas and inspiration from looking at this site. http://www.thewayiplay.com/mainforum....php?board=2.0
There is a setup called the "Racebase" That you can order plans for really cheap. You can get them in digital format then go to a local printer(staples, office depot) and have them printed full size. might be an option for you

Dude that's incredible and looks so comfortable. Really well done, have you thought about manufacturing these and putting them up for sale? I bet you could make a fortune!
