When the wife's away...

... the RX8 takes it's rightful place as owner of the entire damn garage.

I just took this to irk my wife since she's in FL on spring break with the girls... she hates when I put her SUV in the driveway to work on my cars

Now to install my shock sensor and DMENAC7 3rd brake light mod

Nice looking 8, G8rboy. And with that 3rd brake light RX-8 logo mod, it will look even better!

(D MENAC 7 looks at posting count and notices he's ahead... :D)

D'oh!

I've got it installed already in stealth mode - looks great! Pics will be taken later. I might have you make me a 'Go Gators' one for football season in the fall... something like this look possible?

Wait a cotton pickin' minute . . . black 8 in a garage with unpainted taped drywall? Aha, G8rboy is Gandu is MarthaStewart!

Sorry D Menac, couldn't resist that one! And yes, I believe you that MarthaStewart is Gandu. The wheels on the 3 are the same in both pictures.

Carry on all.

Entirely possible. So long as it fits in the boarders, anything is possible. It may not look as good as the graphic only because of the detail, especially the thin line in the lettering. I'll give you a post of what it might look like later. 505??? Damn, gotta get posting...

It would look like this, however, this is an uncleaned up version and would take a little more refinement.

i'd rather be in florida on spring break than parking my 8 in the garage. :D

That actually crossed my mind when I saw the x-files investigation post... I hid my MX3 in the back of my SUV

And yes- now that I've finished the basement- the garage is asking to finished with some heat.

Cool! I can get you a high-res version before you spend much time on it. I've got boxes of bumper stickers left over from the '80's

BTW, I made a slight mod to your mod- I added a slightly opaque plastic light diffuser between the bulb and the template... evens out the light distribution for stealth mode and looks great.

I also took the opportunity to spray some sound dampener since I had the trunk liner off so further tighten my custom bass box up... I think that crap just killed more braincells than my last keg :D

Thanks again!

Sure...but maybe I ought to include that little circled R in the lower right hand corner too. :D

So, what was the opaque material you mentioned? Where did you get it?

Don't you just love the smell of sound dampener spray in the morning?

It's some plastic from a clear cover of a notebook- has a frosted finish, and less than 1mm thick. It looks great now, but I think I'm going to look at home depot for alternatives that won't reduce the light but truly diffuse it, like the cover of a flourescent light fixture to really spread the light out evenly and keep the brightness at max.

Don't worry- It's staying diagonally in there until she gets back- I can't wait to see her face when I bring her home from the airport in the Explorer and open the garage door. That should be worth a slug on the arm at least.

You go guy! I'd do the same! I mean, what do they say about paybacks??? :D

Both my wife and I admit that we can both be difficult from time to time, that's what keeps things interesting...

hmmm... I only have a one car garage . Guess who's car is newer and worth more... That's right kiddies you guessed it so I get the garage all to myself. And yes I can sleep at night. In fact I sleep better knowing that short of a major earthquake or a house fire my baby is safe :D .

Presently my garage isn't inhabitable by a car. It's over flowing and I need to clear it out this spring. Gonna rent a dumpster, I promissed my misses. It's only 1.5 car garage and it's going to be my RX-8 that parks in it when I'm done. Like you, 93rdcurrent, mine is newer so I get top priority. The same goes for right now as to who gets to park in the driveway. That's me, again. I hope she doesn't want to buy a new car for a few years. :D

Here's what I came up with from Home Depot- it's a 2ft x 4ft sheet meant for a office ceiling tile size fluorescent light fixture ($3.99). It distributes the light over the 'R' and the '8' a little more evenly, since the 'X' is right in front of the bulb (this is only the case for the stealth-style install. It also makes a very cool effect- almost like the 'RX-8' is a hologram floating inside the brake light assembly.
