I can't say i've ever noticed your car in the area tho. Although I did notice a BB and VR on the south-end of the actual park a few times on one of those streets.

this is simply not true. the pictures i put up where when i drove my eight on a very cold day... i think air temperature was around -7 degrees F... which is about twenty below in celsius... i think; check my math. should be around there. it started rough... but it only took about three seconds. have you gotten the latest flash and ignition recalls performed? also, it was started outside in a lot and was driven to the garage you see in the pictures (my dad's garage).

try blanketing your hood and engine bay area with snow at least 10 inches think. thermal blankets are also sold that work, but you have to make sure you park the eight over bare ground and completely cover the eight and then seal it from outside air; again snow is handy. those tricks might be able to bring the air around your engine near 30 degrees f or... a little below zero celsius.

good luck!

For the amount of money it costs for a set of winter wheels and tires, you could buy a beater.

Ill keep my 8 in the garage for the winters.

seeing as how my previous car was a 1995 chrysler lebaron (same car, just body panels and convertible) im sure it sucks to drive it.

i remember, after having my rx8 for a month, that i was scared to drive the lebaron. i wouldnt go over 65mph on the highway. dead serious. bodyroll, brakes, tires, all were so shitty.

btw, i have gone offroading in the rx8.

Compared to the 8, yeah it does suck....but that's comparing apples and oranges. For a daily driver it's not bad at all. It actually runs really well, has good tires and brakes. Pic: ()

It's hard believe me, but I would rather not risk ruining it. I got too much into that car. Plus most of the time I would not be able to get it out of my driveway because of the snow and ice.

We all drive what we can afford and do what we can per life's circumstances, right? It's all good. I believe this thread was to be about having fun in our 8 for those who live in the snowy regions. Some choose to put their 8 away for winter and can afford to, that's wonderful too. Personally I'm in between. I have a family and 2 cars, one garage, and the other vehicle being a Jeep. Even though I work from home, I still have a set of winter wheels/tires for times I'd like to take the 8 out. I do stay away from salty conditions.

Just enjoy the ride.

I did a 3 stage buff on it on a slow day at work. Still haven't gotten time to respray the bumpers.

Doesn't matter what I drive, I like it to look the best possible. I'm a bit picky with my cars. I think it's because of the work I do.

Nothing wrong with the rx8 and snow.

There is when it comes to ice though, the rx8 constantly wants to switch its back end with the front and that's with Nokian winter tires. In those moments when i am traveling over icy bridges and you know the back end is starting to slide out, I would much rather be in a fwd or awd car.

Horror Story: A dry day last weekend in Cleveland, and I decided to go bowling with friends. Get out of the alley two hours later to find 2 inches of fresh powder.

I drove six of the scariest miles of my entire life on Falken Azenis RT615...

On the other hand... 4 wheel drifting is fun... hehe..

But... though scary... the car did make it home in one piece, so I guess it'd be a pretty good winter car with proper tires. Probably fun for that matter... how do those of you with snow tires feel?

snow tires make driving in the snow no sweat. obviously you cant slam on the brakes and floor it off the stoplight. but handling is so much improved its not funny.

you can really surprise AWD subarus/4wd jeeps w/ all seasons when you pass them if they have problems. sports car...? wtf? why dont they have problems?

also, summer tires dont work too well below 40 degrees. the rubber gets too hard.

yeah. cannot stress enough how important the right tires are. i had some hi per summers on last year in the spring... we had some residual snow on the road... at 40 mph, i turned a little to avoid a snowplow blade, and then spent the next 400 feet fishtailing back and forth. it was harrowing, but i was fine in the end. but then decided that i would never again drive in the snow without snow tires. haha. now the eight drives just fine, and i get around better than most.
