I used this audio plug for a long time with great success. I ran the power to the fuse box and audio to the hole by the glove box. There is a great mounting point as well under the steer wheel. It was great when i used it with my droid for hands free calls. It's just a simple audio in, so any device will do. This as a great add-on to the phone mount I had, also on sale
Technical questions refer to this thread, lots of great info

That's the exact radio that I had, the only thing you need to do is check your software version. I had to get mine upgraded. I think Mazsport was doing the upgrading back then, but they are since out of business. I'm not sure who does it now. There were only a few that were of the earlier software version, you should be ok. Look on the forums for the way to check, you hold some button or something when it turns on.
Here is how to check
Many of the following modules require that your factory headunit's firmware be greater than 9.55. To find out which revision your Mazda RX-8 has, make sure the radio (FM) is turned on, then press and hold "TEXT." Then, also press and hold "1" at the same time for a few more seconds. The LCD should then report your firmware version.

2007, this should work just fine. If you use the instructions above you can check the version of your unit and be sure. Although I believe if it's after 2006 it's fine
