FS: MazdaSpeed Shocks & Springs (Houston, TX)
LOCAL BUYERS/PICKUP ONLY.
I've decided to start taking autocross seriously, but I can't afford to max my car out for the STU class, so I'm reverting back to stock. The MazdaSpeed Shocks & Springs are currently installed on my car and work wonderfully - anyone who wants to take a ride/drive in my car before buying them is more than welcome to see what they feel like.
The parts are about 2-2½ years old, with just under 40,000 miles on them. I've ridden in some newer 8s with "fresher" MS shocks & springs installed and, I have to say, I can't feel the difference. Mazda built these things like tanks.
This part is the most important part of the sale! Please read carefully!!
I no longer have a garage nor the tools to remove the MazdaSpeed parts off my car. If you want to buy them from me, you will have to supply the location, the tools, and the elbow grease to help me get the MS suspension off my car, as well as help me reinstall my old stock suspension. Obviously, I offer my help in installing the MS parts onto your car in return.
If you want to buy *just* the shocks or *just* the springs, that's fine - just know that regardless of how much or how little you're purchasing, you'll still have to help me take *all* of it out, as well as put all the stock stuff back in.
Prices:
Shocks - $180
Springs - $200
Combo - $330

And FYI to all interested buyers:
I'm a really easy-going guy, so if you're in Monkiboi's situation where you want to buy, but might have to pull a few strings and/or call in some friends to make a garage and some tools available, just know my ears are open to anything. These parts do me no good sitting in a box in my closet, so I've got no problem meeting people halfway on things to make a sale possible.

Dumb, newbie question but: Sports-tuned suspension isn't the same as having a Mazdaspeed suspension is that correct? When they say 'sports-tuned' what do they really mean? I just want to confirm because some vendors say 'Sport Shocks' while some say 'Mazdaspeed Shocks' - this makes it confusing. So do you think mixing mazdaspeed springs with stock shocks is ok? In any case I'm really interested in the springs if Decat is up for it.

If it's a MS part, they will specify.
Also, no MS parts come standard or optional on any RX8.

Oh and yeah I have a garage and almost all the tools needed I believe. The guy down the street at the local autoshop did my S Tech install for $300 because I didn't have a spring compressor, I think that is all I am lacking, he is a really nice guy I might be able to work a deal with him or borrow some tools. I am not sure though just brainstorming out loud, so if something doesn't work out sorry ahead of time.....

Finding tools is no problem - it's finding a place to work on the car that's tricky. Most of us live in appartments or have garages that aren't really cut out for much more than holding a car.
We can go to Autozone and rent the tools if need be. Spring compressors probably wouldn't cost more than $20 to rent for a day - and I'll split that cost.
I don't know if either of you have ever done suspension work like this before, so be warned that doing swaps on 3 cars is probably going to take 3 days (1 car a day). It's not that the work is hard, it's just time consuming, especially if your tools are limited.
On the "mod weekend" that I did my install, we decided to do some other guys spring install first. None of us knew what we were doing, but we had plenty of tools. It took the four of us 13 hours (including breaks) to finish. The next day, it was just myself and Rob working on my car. Since we both knew what we were doing, and he had enough tools for both of us to always be doing something, we managed to finish in 8 hours (including breaks).
I don't know how your schedules work, so we'll have to play it by ear when it comes to scheduling days for the 3 of us to meet up (I highly doubt they'll be consecutive).
First meet, we'll remove the MS shocks/springs from my car and put my old stock springs back in with a new set of Konis. It'll give you 2 a chance to get familiar with the procedure, as well as give myself a refresher.
2nd meet, we'll take out Decat's stock shocks and replace them with something that does his Tein S springs a bit more justice.
3rd meet, we'll swap out the stock springs on Monk's car for the MS springs and give his 8 the ride height it deserves. We'll probably celebrate and vow to never do suspension work again, as well

Sorry busy doing taxes. Yeah don't put me at the top of the list if someone else has a plan and all by all means go for it. But if hero can help and has a spring compressor we might be able to pull it off. But do not wait on me by any means, whatever is best for you man.

OK - so, here's where the deal currently stands.
DECAT
You are currently first in line, but you don't post much, and seem hesitant to buy. As much as I would like to give you all the time in the world to get everything in order, I'm on a bit of a time constraint, so if I don't have a definative "yes" or "no" from you by this Thursday (4/17), I'm going to have to move on to the next buyer.
MONKIBOI69
I know you're counting on Decat's garage & tools, so unless you can find your own place & tools in the next few days, you'll lose your dibbs this Thursday as well.
EVERYONE ELSE
I'm giving priority in the order that I was contacted. In the case that someone only buys the shocks or the springs, dibbs priority starts back at the top of this list:
3rd -- HERO (Springs Only)
4th -- VolcomStoneX (Full Set)
5th -- LegendKurado (Shocks Only)
6th -- rx8Tiemann (Full Set)
(also, in the event that I can only find a local buyer for *just* the shocks or *just* the springs, I'll open the sale of the remaining parts to all continental 48 states)

If you are willing to work under a plain covered parking area let me know. I live in a condo and I have worked on my car many times...no one has said anything to me yet. I have the normal mechanic hand tool set (socket wrenches/torque wrench), a 2 ton jack, and 2 stands. I'd like to buy the whole set.
Edit: parking area is an attached covered parking area. I have two ports and we can use that space for the work.
