FS: K&N version 2 and stock pulleys

I am going to sell my K&N V.2 typhoon intake, used for 3700 miles, still have original box and instructions with it. Too much noise between this, the midpipe, and my exhaust so I'm switchin to the racing beat. I will have it off the car by the weekend, but for now it's on my car and I can get pictures on request then. Looking for 200 + shipping for that.

misc stuff for sale I have a set of the stock pulleys with belts looking for 30 + shipping OBO

thanks for checkin this stuff out!

You should be able to move the springs quick. I had mine listed for $200 and had a few interested parties. I ended up selling mine to a friend locally though.

i hope so! I was ready to order my koni yellows to go with them and stumbled on a great deal on JIC coilovers on this site so I decided to go the other direction. THanks for the encouragement

Where are you located? I'm interested in the springs, but Online Mazda Parts sells them for $244 including shipping.

No, I'm keeping my exhaust... the exhaust + K&N + midpipe all together is too much, so I'm thinking removing the k&n which was the loudest and most noticable noise increase to me will help tone it down a notch.

i'm in ny state btw

damn 244 shipped! now i feel like i got ripped off. im gonna take a bigger hit than i thought

JIC coilovers suck IMO, I went with the MS/Koni combo and it was fantastic. It made for some very fast turn in and great transitioning without much body roll. The Koni's aren't adjustable externally on the rear though but otherwise I had 0 complaints. The ride height is perfect and I wouldn't want to adjust it all the time so I skipped coilovers. If I were you I'd reconsider keeping the springs and getting the Koni's.

I was able to hang with some very fast modded M3's and a 400 whp Evo (boltons, R comps, camber plates, coilovers etc) as well as the V8 (4+ Liter) class at the local BMw autocrosses in the RX-8 with nothing but the Konis/MS and 255 RA1's.

JIC build quality is generally poor, they aren't an engineering company they're a manufacturing company. Go read some other forums about their coilovers/exhausts that have fallen apart etc. A fast local S2000 guy bought a set and ended up going back to stock when the coilovers made him slower. Most the "bling bling JDM" companies don't do as much research and application testing as Koni (suppliers to Mclaren F1) and Bilstein. Last I heard they were involved in a civil lawsuit over not standing behind of their products, not sure if it's still going on. YMMV

I have heard of reports of JICs being blown so I'm kind of wary. Of course I also know a guy that has had a set that were trouble free, so your mileage may vary.

CosmosM, did you also use an aftermarket sway bar with the spring and shock combo or was that it?

Where are you in New York state? I'm planning to go to NYC after Christmas and I still have some friends in Ithaca that can possibly pick up for me. Might be able to save on the shipping. I'm considering Mazdaspeed springs paired with Mazdaspeed shocks.

Factory sways on my car. However, with front and rear sways and some 17X9.5 or 18X9.5 wheels with 275 r comps (if you don't care about SCCA classing) on top of the Koni/MS combo the car would be a blast. You must have me confused, I'm in Dallas not NY and mine are currently pending to someone in TX.

I would recommend the MS springs but not the shocks, go with Konis, Bilsteins or even Tokico D-specs before the MS shocks.

Without any personal experience with the JICs, I don't think you should be bashing JIC. Ron Bauer has done pretty well with them on his CSP Miata along with many other Miata owners of all 3 generations.

Just because somebody local didn't like them on his S2K doesn't mean they're not good. They seemed to work well when I drove my friends car despite his less expensive and worn out tires.

I wasn't bashing them because they're slow (although some die hard s2000 track guys say they're slow and suck as well). I was bashing them because I've read on different forums that their quality sucks and they don't stand behind the product. Go read the S2000 thread, the guy ended up taking them to court and won. Their answer to broken product is "we don't warranty, too bad for you" Various other people have had their exhausts fail and one WRX guy had a shock break in HALF on an autocross run. They don't have a good track record. I've never heard of Koni or Bilstein screwing anyone that bad.

Is there a reason you wouldn't go with MS shocks? I know I'll lose the adjustability, but it's also about $100 cheaper. I know you're in Dallas, I was talking to WBRxGreat about New York; he's in New York state.

Come on, you said "JIC coilovers suck IMO" and you've never driven on/owned any.

Just saying that that's only part of the story. There are tons of people out there that swear by JIC. You get a lot more publicity when something goes wrong and people complain than when people are happy with a product.

You're right, I've never driven on them but I don't care if they made me as fast as Lewis Hamilton if I were to spend 2K+ and the stuff breaks then they basically tell me to go F off. Go read the post on the S2ki thread and look at the response directly from JIC-USA, ridiculous.

Cosmos you've officially scared me off the jics... Do you think koni stech set up would be ok? I want a bit lower stance for aesthetics.

Unless you are going to track or autocross, coilovers for street/daily car is pointless. Just my 2 cents.

I think that would be a good combo as well, good-win racing did a write up a while back and I think they were happy with the combo. I drove a car with S-tech's and the factory shocks and it was comparable to the MS, just not quite as stiff. You'd probably be better off just using the MS since you already have them though, you'll probably break even selling those and re-buying some Stechs.

If you want to go with S-Techs or H-Techs (I think it was DPE that actually did the write-up) I'd be interested in taking the Mazdaspeeds off your hands.

If not, how much was the deal for JICs? Polak's KW group buy is the best deal for coilovers out there. Not the cheapest, but best bang for the buck.

Polak's GB is $1700 though, quite a bit far from $650 for (what I'm guessing are used) JICs.

Yeah but I think only with 17X9 wheels.
