Just curious how this is up to par with other radio heads? Not familiar with this one..I'm familiar with their 2 DIMM that has the touch screen and does everything and even makes you breakfast..lol

Well according to Pioneer, this radio has the same brain and circuit design as their flagship DEX-P1R. Donno if you remember that one but it was arguably the best radio ever until the Alpine F1 Status stuff came out.
I owned the DEX-P1R and loved it and this radio definitely has a very similar sound to it but for much, much cheaper. Like 1/3 the price. Feature-wise you can't go wrong. This thing auto-equalizes, auto-time-aligns, let's you mess with crossover points and slopes in just about any way you can imagine. It has a pro mode that let's you run high, mid, low instead of front, rear, sub. All stuff that came from the DEX-P1R.
To answer your question, the radio has a very smooth and calm sound compared to other head units like Apline, Clarion. It's more subdued, less in your face or harsh.

The Metra kit is double-din, but I'm sure can easily be converted to single by adding a pocket under the top DIN. Gives you a good spot for your cell phone too
Note: I have no direct experience with the Metra kit (I used the Kanantechs one), so please verify with them directly or someone on here that has used the kit.
Try emailing: chrisb AT metra-autosound DOT com
