Hi There
Does anyone have a wrecked Mazdaspeed front panel that is not worth repairing but still has the front insert in one piece, that they may want to sell?
If so please let me know what sort of price you want for it.
The part I'm after is in the photo attached.

I talked to a guy about making a mold of mine and producing some a while back. It seemed a little on the expensive side to me though. What do you guys think the piece would be worth?

What sort of price did it work out to have them made from a mold of yours? Obviously this would depend on how many you have made. But give us a ball park figure.

He wanted me to have 10 piece minimum with my cost being around $100 each
Just seemed way to expensive to me.

Yes does seem a little on the expensive side, maybe $50 each.
What was he going to make the final product out of? fibreglass or plastic, or what?
Thanks

If and when I need that Piece I would pay more than $100.00 for it. You don't have much choice, when you need it, you will need it.

My reasoning behind it being to expensive is that the majority of people who would want it would be people who bought knock off MS parts. This may not be the case but seemed that way to me. As people who would buy knock offs in the first place I didn't think they would pay over $100 for it.

I'll look into it again and see if I can get the cost down with a bigger order. If I can I'll try to set up a group buy and go from there.

Will be interesting to see how you get on, but I would still be keen to find out what the final product would be made of? Needs to be made of something that can take a few knocks from stones etc and not crack or be brake easily.
Thanks

I honestly don't remember what he wanted to make them from. We didn't talk about it long because I wasn't really impressed with the price point.

Ive said it before, vacuum forming the piece is something you could do at home, and costs under 20 bucks.

just make a vacuum former (pegboard and a shop vac) and have heatguns/oven ready

your welcome.

Hi EricB

Sounds like you would be keen to have a go at making a few for the ones that want them. Best you show us your skills.
We look forward to seeing the results.

I would most definitely do it, but i need to find someone who has the insert first, since im basically replicating it by draping a sheet of hot plastic over it. I think i may know somebody local.

Can you tell me the dimensions of the plastic piece? Ill need to source materials if my friend says its okay to replicate his piece.

Lets hope Futch1nc can give you the dimensions as I don't have this piece at all.
Will look forward to seeing what you can come up with EricB.

The piece is roughly 2.5' long about 4" tall and maybe 1.5" deep. The back side is hollow though if I remember correctly so its actually maybe .25" thick. These are very rough measurements but I really didn't feel like taking my bumper off to take it apart and measure it right now.

Just thought I would see if anybody had gone any further with this?
Or maybe someone might have any insert for sale?
Thanks

I never followed up because I thought Eric could do it cheaper. If he doesn't then I'll look into it again.

I had made one before using fiberglass wasn't that hard. I got some poster board, taped it one end to the other, and filled it in turned out pretty good.
