Need an engine
Category: Engine - Complete Motors
Price: $1
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part Fits (you may select multiples): Series I
Location (US State/Canada/Int): MD

I've got a 2004 with 91k miles and a failed engine. Technically, it's under warranty but I am having some issues that will probably cost just as much to solve as getting a motor and swapping it in myself.
So, anyone got a good motor they need to part with?
I've got a 6 speed manual car so definitely looking for a 6 port engine.

Well, here's a bump.
Totalair is keeping his engine and one other lead fell through, so I'm back in the market.
Here's a little back story for everyone's amusement...
I've got something like 40,40,70 on the front rotor and 70,70,70 on the rear. I seafomed it 3 times and revived it from a no-start, no-compression situation. The final time I lost it, it happened driving down a back road in 3rd gear in the upper rev range. It just popped and started sounding like a V-6. That combined with the front compression numbers makes me think I lost an apex seal and possibly the housing with it. This makes me wary of attempting a rebuild as just the re-seal kits are like $1300, which is most of the way to a complete good used engine.
Soooo, if anyone has an engine, or some advice, hit me up. I'll take just the 6-port keg and swap all the trimmings but a complete deal would be easier. All depends on price I guess. I'd also like to score one with the revised oil filler and breather situation to keep the oil out of the intake as I think that oil contamination on the MAF may have made my engine run rich most of it's life and probably led to its early demise. Other evidence is its habit of melting cats and its enthusiasm for shooting flames once I gutted the cat.

You seem smart so I wont be a dick.
I would hit up the dealer and see what they will charge you. A guy down in Louisiana scored one from the dealer for $2k. You seem competent enough to do the swap yourself so I would go that route.

What the hell? My engine died and I'm looking for a replacement. What possible reason is there to be a dick??? Like am I doing something wrong here? Seriously, I have no idea so clue me in. I mean don't get me wrong, glad you aren't gonna be one, but why would ya? Why would anyone? Am I stepping on toes here by trying to buy an engine?
Just fyi, I've been thru the ringer on this. My car is actually under warranty and the dealer has said they will cover it if I can prove I did maintenance. Walmart won't reprint my reciepts without a court order and I have beein up and down the effing corporate ladder over that and they won't budge on it. I mean WILL NOT BUDGE. So, my only remaining option is to sue Mazda to force walmart to reprint my reciepts (retarded), the cost of which will rapidly exceed the cost of just getting a motor and swapping it in.
What the hell, I'll call the dealer and see if they'll just sell me a motor. I never considered it because they told me it was going to cost 9k if it wasn't covered. That was with labor, though.

On a side note I think there were some people who called up mazda national and bitched enough to get the engine covered.
