Nexus 7 Navi-tablet

Category: Audio/Video/Electronics
Price: $400
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part Fits (you may select multiples): Series I
Location (US State/Canada/Int): IN
Item Condition: Used

It is with a sad and heavy heart that I decided to cancel my Car Tablet project.
I bought a Nexus 7 Wifi tablet and purchased a Navigation hood from a salvage yard with the intent on doing the Car Tablet install. The first hiccup was when the navigation hood arrived at my door, the ribbon cable from the PCB board was snapped off. I thought no problem I will just follow what Daisun did and use an Arduino=second hiccup. I know nothing about Arduinos and the wiring that would come with it. I paint cars for a living and the Arduino code is way above my skill/knowledge level.

The navigation hood opening has been opened up to better accomidate all of the Nexus 7's screen. All the pull down menus are accessible. I bought a 90 degree micro USB plug and trimmed that down too. The tablet fits perfectly inside the housing now.
One of the attachment legs is missing on the nav. hood. I got this from the salvage yard this way. (see last picture)

To the point:
I'm sort of over this project now and the money will help fund another down the road.

What you get:
-1 Nexus 7 Wifi tablet (reset to factory specs)
-1 Arduino Uno R3
-1 Arduino Motor Shield V.3
-1 Arduino starter kit
-1 Factory navigation hood that has been professionally sanded, primed, and painted gloss black with automotive grade materials.
- all the wiring I was using and I will include the original navigation screen, PCB board (in case you want to try to mend the broken ribbon cable) and all other things related to the Nav. system
You will be responsible for wiring it up and rooting the tablet

I know I only have a Trader score of 1 but it actually should be 2 but a member forgot to leave feedback. I have a 100 percent positive feedback rating of 50 on eBay.

that nav hood paint job is sharp! I've been wanting to put nav in mine, but i'm in the same boat as you - I wouldn't know how to set it up and make the thing flip up and down as it should.

Thanks, I just needed someone locally that knew what an Arduino is. The code is already on the Arduino, all I needed was help wiring the thing.

For what it's worth, I'm half way through a nav/gauge project and I installed it without wiring the open/tilt buttons. For now I just lift the hood and close it by hand. The motor and gears provide enough resistance to keep it up and at any desired angle.

yeah, I had thought about that but it kind of defeats the cool thing about our factory Nav. system.

$400 shipped!

In the description, I was going to use an arduino to make the open/tilt functions work but I never finished the wiring. I will be including the original PCB board if you want to try to make that work. Please understand the situation before buying, I don't want people to get mad when this isn't plug and play as it sits.
