Unhappy Want to rent your Cobb AP

Category: Accessories
Price: $1
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part Fits (you may select multiples): Series I
Location (US State/Canada/Int): IL
Item Condition: Used

I need to borrow a Cobb Access Port for like a week or two so I can delete the codes my car is throwing and pass my emissions test. I'll pay you.
All you have to do is temporarily unmate it from your car and send it to me.
I'll mate it to mine, delete my codes, pass emissions, unmate, and mail it back to you.

Please help a brother out!

You can buy a cheap code reader to do the same thing for you. It will only temporarily delete them though. And I don't think it is as easy as unmarrying it from there car and attaching it to yours either..

There's a difference between deleting them with the code reader and deleting them with the Cobb. The code ready doesn't do anything to your ecu other than put it in "pending" mode. The Cobb AP will actually trick your ecu into not thinking there are any codes.
If you go to emissions with a pending ecu you will fail.

and yes, it is as easy as unmarrying it and attaching to mine.

Many parts places will reset the codes for you.

If I un-marry mine, it will go back to the factory tune. Then I have to re-tune and re-learn.

An ultra gauge will reset them as well. They are cheap, and very useful.

Blocking some codes with the COBB can also cause some of the monitors to never set and you will fail anyway. You should just fix your car correctly.

There is nothing to fix. My car runs perfectly. I already talked Shook of Shook motorsports (famous for building rotaries) and he said the cobb will do the trick. I'm throwing a code for low circuit in my intake manifold which could be like 1 of 100 insignificant things.

If the cobb didnt work how would people pass emissions with turbo or catless cars?
Again, I have to reiterate, I'M NOT TRYING TO RESET THE CODES.
If I just reset them the ecu will be in "pending" mode and that will fail emissions anyway.

Find someone locally in your area... I highly doubt anyone would want to send out their cobb ap to someone they don't know for like a week or so, and then wait to get it back....

You are going to have to build a custom map with the codes you want shut off deleted. I'ts not quite as easy as you think it is. You will need the owner to get a copy of ATR if they don't have it and make a map.....

I don't have $400 to spend on this. I'd rather borrow someones for fifty bucks and buy one down the line or something.

Did you just become that guy that spent a bunch of money on wheels and can't afford to get his car to pass a basic inspection? Gangster.

Just slip that 50 to the emissions tester and try to bribe your way through it.

The cobb just masks the code, the ECU will fail the ready state test...

Unless things are different up there.

It wont fail, I know someone in Wisconsin that did the same with their Cobb to pass emissions but he's currently using his Cobb for tuning on his turbo build.

Dude thats a completely different state... They have different requirements and codes, shoot restrictions and procedures are county by county.

I would do some digging before you go buying up Ap's

Well it didn't work for my friend... That's why I am telling you... As long as it worked for someone in your county you are good to go.

Isn't emissions a federal requirement? I'm just wondering why you would do this online and and get someone involved in a possible felony to save a couple of bucks.
