Location (US State/Canada/Int): NJ

Hey all. I have been trying to sell my rx8 with little luck. As you know these cars are stupid hard to sell without giving them away for basically free.

I put a lot of money on it and would rather keep it and drive the crap out of it on the track till it dies, however my windshield is cracked and wouldn't pass safety inspection, so I'm looking for a used windshield. Will come and pick it up and remove it from the car if necessary.

If you are close to NJ and have a good windshield please let me know. Thanks

You need a special tool set to remove windshields successfully. And I can tell you from experience that mazda uses some SUPER strong adhesive on windshields. Also the glass is very thin and very easy to crack. You will also find that it is much harder to cut the glue in cold weather than in warm weather, and this means you have a much higher chance of breaking the glass in cold weather. You also have the consideration of trying to transport, store, clean the old glue off and prep the old glass for install without breaking it.

You also won't find many glass men that will be interested in helping you salvage an old glass and they usually wont warranty it if they do.

All these things combined basically mean it is not worth your time versus just paying the $200-300 installed for a new glass.
