I'm moderately tempted too buy this but I would only care about the nitrous kit since I don't have an RX-8 anymore. I'm guessing you won't want to split this up, but I'd definitely consider buying just the zex kit if the price is right.

Surprised this hasn't sold yet... good luck with getting this sold.

 

Hey let me know if you are going to pick this up 8 Maniac, I would like the spacer for the possible addition of water meth and would give you a bit of cash for it. You can just drop it off with Scott and we can work out the money transaction however you wish.

 

I'll definitely keep that in mind. If I'm being even a little reasonable, I shouldn't buy this. But I'm still tempted. Sorting out a misfire issue for now and it kind of depends on what that turns out to be. And I'm definitely taking care of suspension stuff before adding more power. So... it kind of depends on a lot of things. But a good enough deal would definitely tempt me...

 

Ive dropped this kit $175....thats tempting enough! Buy the kit and part out for what you want to get.

 

Well, temptation has to do with financial ability and responsibility too.. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm spending a bit of money on getting some engine issues cleared up. I might still be interested once I'm done with that.

The other issue is that this is my daily driver and I'd be looking at putting a lot of strain on the car if I start adding nitrous. I'd basically be right at the point where I need to consider upgraded engine internals. Not to mention existing weakness in the transmission. Pretty sure my clutch could handle it though. It's a great kit for the renesis, but I might be biting off more than I should for my situation.

 

I am interested in this thing, how long was it in your car and why did you remove it ?

 

His original post says it was never used... just removed from boxes for photos. This is a very good deal. I had the zex kit on my 8 and it was a lot of fun.

 

I know this is a great deal, i had priced quite a few months back in consideration. I read this a couple months back when it was posted as well, forgot that it was new in the OP. Thanks Maniac, My thing is the reliability and conservation of the engine, iv read that the rotaries are very capable and forgiving of using spray on them if it is done under the right application, is that the correct research? Or just an opinionated thread i read?

 

It's hard to say much about reliability. It can vary based on engine health and how the owner drives. Generally speaking, it has been very reliable from what I've seen and heard. As long as your engine is in good condition and you're not stupid about using it, you shouldn't expect it to be too problematic. With nitrous, it's not like you'll be running it every time you drive.

 

I bought this kit new from BHR. I never used it, as I ended up buying a turbo kit and a 2008 BMW M3. I'm making the rx8 more of a fun track car & the zex doesn't really fit what I needed more power for.

$500 + shipping is a great deal and my fiancee wants it out of the house...LOL....she's still in the dark on the turbo!

I can't believe no one has taken this deal. Some unexpected expenses made it unreasonable for me, but someone has to have the money and interest in this...

I'm not sure if you've tried this yet, but it might be worth trying to sell on craigslist. You could PM Hoss and sell him the BHR spacer separately. At least on craigslist you wont be limiting yourself to the relatively small RX-8 community.
