exactly, since thats the only thing the announcer talks about, they never say we dont have the hp and torque. They really need to research into what they complain about!

hey RC, about the video on GA. I didnt watch the last 7min of the race, so that was new to me, the #70 passed the porsche on the banking drafting off the DP? This was raised in the message board too. They were saying we just out-dragged the porsche, which is impossible to my knowledge.
In other words, we wouldnt have won without the DP there at that moment!

On the GA board, the original poster is obviously not a Mazda fan, but he fails to take into account things like "pit strategy/work" that won the race in Mexico, and also played a big part of the victory at Homestead. Also, he has no idea what aero configuration the RX-8 was running at Homestead, but watching the race, it looked like the SS boys went with a lower downforce set-up to make time on the speedway banking. Let the politics begin...
Sylvain, and Nick are also world class drivers... his complaints that they are not, are born out by the fact the Randy Pobst a world class sedan driver was slower than Sylvain at Daytona. Sour grapes!! They're afraid the Rotary invasion will once again beat them for years, like in the IMSA glory days! Long Live RE power!

It is clear that the #70 dint have a lot of down force, in the last minutes of the race its *** was all over the place( that made the race even more exciting )
Ill wacht the race tonight againg and give you a better opinion, but as I remember the anouncers where saying that the porche only came in for fuel so at the end of the race they had no tires, and yet where turning better lap times

just wach the race againg, my take on thing is that the mazda was not running a lot of down force, but if you check the batle for 3rd one of the porche was much faster than the other one, so does it mean that that porche should get more weight?
at 5:55 the porche pass the mazda, at 5:39 the mazda pass the porche with a lot of help from a DP , would we have won without it? I dont thing so, the porche was much faster, there was a lot of locking brakes from the mazda to keep the porche begind

Specs on the Porsche motorsports website on the 911 GT3 CUP 997
# flat six-cylinder boxer engine
# 3,598 cc, stroke 76.4 mm, bore 100 mm diameter
# max. power: 294 kW (400 hp) at 7,300 rpm
# max. torque: 400 Nm at 6,500 rpm
# max. rpm: 8,200 rpm
# four valves per cylinder
Who thinks it really makes 400hp...? they must have a VERY VERY broad torque curve

Just watched the race again for the 3rd time. Awesome.
Now, if people would just stop backing out on my trip to see these guys run. I am about to just go by myself, lol.

Im not sure, also remember that rotary engines are peaky, the efective rpm range is really small compare to a piston engine, im sure the porche engine makes a lot more average torque and hp.
Remember that the GA oficials put this cars on the dyno, so they are not guessing when they make this rules
also I think the #70 is running heavier than the rules permit, the comentadors said in the race that the #69 its an evolution of the #70 an was 50lbs lightter

Yeah, I caught that too, I was wondering, how can they run 50lbs lighter if the #70 is at 2200 min weight!.. ah... the #70 must not be running at min weight then!

Nice words from Sylvain...
Guys, please feel free to leave Sylvain and the team nice words of encouragement, or questions at:
http://rotarynews.com/node/view/894
Just post your comments, and we'll get it over to Sylvain, Dave and the rest of the SS boys! Show them your support!!
Thanks,
-Bern
While the team pursues more success, Tremblay is quick to mention his gratitude for support from Mazda and rotary enthusiasts. "The level of support and enthusiasm we get from fans everywhere is overwhelming. From all points in the country, Mazda fans and racers celebrate with us and I'm very happy to bring home this win for them."

Does this mean more RX-8s?!?
"We have a great package, and expect to be able to announce our work on chassis nos. 003 and 004 for other teams." Excluding the chassis, which comes from Riley Technologies, and the Downing Atlanta built carbon fiber body panels, all the remaining fabrication happens on-site at SpeedSource. Looking ahead Tremblay adds, "We're also taking orders for chassis no. 005 and beyond."
