Red face 1 chunked 710

Well, I managed to chunk a 710 down to the cords. It chunked off of the inside groove, the hole is about half the diameter of a dime. Wasn't running any funny pressures on the tire, and the tire is still maintaining pressure.

My question is this, is the tire now garbage, or is it ok to run on Not worried about ultimate competitiveness, just don't want to throw away 3 other perfectly good tires to have a matched set.

thanks-

Cords showing = won't pass tech.

Don't know what you did to it, we haven't seen any of that kind of behavior on several sets of V710s.

TeamRX8, is that a joke? I thought of the same thing right away, but couldn't recommend it.

The Kumho's will chunk if underinflated and sometimes just randomly. I have seen both, but not a lot. The latter happened to me, but it was near the end of the life of the tires (over 80 runs), so I was not concerned about it.

The lot we were on had some bad spots and I am sure that is what chunked your tire. I have used black RTV sil to cover cords and still used chunked tires.

it will get you through tech, but you'll probably need to redo it before each event

it's only autox, I wouldn't recommend it for a high speed track event though

Do it. Last year I did a couple fun runs with v700s that looked like this... yes I'm an idiot.

Aren't you taking a big chance throwing it into a corner? Can't the tire spin right off destroying your wheel not to mention the possiblity of suspension damage.
