18x9 Wheels for STX Autocross
I am thinking about going into STX next year for autocross so wanted to get a new set of wheels. We are allowed to run up to 9" wide in STX as far as I am aware. I cannot find any wheels that are 18x9 and fit the Rx8. I have my old set of street tires so really want to stick with the 18" rim. Anyone know of wheels that are this size and good for autocross.

I have a set of 18 x 9 +55 SSR Comp Type C 1-pc wheels I can part with (I own two sets, only need one set). Weight is 16.9#, condition is very good, medium gray center (darker than silver, lighter than anthracite) with polished lips. They were originally NIB and I only ran/mounted two sets of tires on them for STX autox last year.

Thanks for the tips about the enkel wheels, I did not realize you can change the offset for STX and though it had to be around 45mm like in C Stock.
I was looking for 18x9, 114.3 stud pattern with 45 mm offset, under 20lbs and not too expensive.
I did check out the "official STX wheel thread" but only saw it when I posted this thread, in similar threads below. They have a few options.

That being said, you might want to compare the future cost of new tires at 17" and 18".

Wow, I did not realize the difference, is the max width 255 or 265 for STX, I think you might be right about the 17's saving a lot of money and not really losing performance.

265 is the STX limit. another reason to go with the 17s is that you can fit them in a shorter size, which helps with gearing and thus torque at the wheels...so the 17s don't necessarily sacrifice performance.
of course that means you're either turning more revs on the street or swapping wheels at every event (which really isn't that much work).

I ordered a set of 255/35-18 Toyo R1Rs for $700 shipped and the mounted wheel/tire weight on the SSR Comps is 40.5#
with the exception of the 245/35-17 Toyo R1R most of the typical 17" and 18" for 255/265 sizes are all in the same general diameter range
be advised that some of the 17" wheels won't clear an aftermarket brake kit if you should ever decide to make that change

I have a really nice set is 18's the Mazda Speed Rays that are Forged aluminum, but would like to get a separate set of wheels & tires for autocross (Dunlop Star specs) and then a cheaper set of tires for daily driving. I want to go into STX next year so I will keep an eye out for a nice set of 17x9 there are loads available on ebay and such.
