1st Auto X in 8

1st B Stock Auto X in my 8 and 1st win. Right up there with the Evo's and S2000 in times. They were on V710's and Hoosier S05's while I am running Dunlop Super Sport Race tires which don't have nearly the grip.

Running -1.3 front and -1.5 rear camber and 0 toe. 35psi front 37psi rear. Stock shocks and sways.

Here's some pics and vids from Hershey event

http://www.scca-susq.com/photoslinks.html

My 94 Rx7 definitely had more power but the 8 has far greater track manners.

Or the legality for Stock/SP. Sure, they're harder and all that... but rules is rules. And the one rule states they have to come in at least 4 different rim sizes and available to all competitors. Add onto that neither Tire Rack nor Discount Tire sell them any more.

Congrats on your win, 05MazdaRx8. We met at Ripken in MD on 4/1. Looks like you got your 225 Dunlop SP SSR, which I clearly stated not legal under SCCA if you recall. Imp has schooled me on many occasions about that sticky point, so his reaction is to be expected and respected.

I'll be out of town on 5/20, so I hope you can make to the 4/23 autox at Warminster, PA. I will be running street tire due to weather forecast.

It's a trap, don't do it...

Kidding aside, looks like you got some new wheels in the photo? What are those?

My invitation for this weekend's autox stands. I'm sure you are looking forward to an equal match this time with both of us on street tire. Remeber this:

Thanks CRX and IMP.

I found an excellent deal on Enkei RP02 new for $125 ea and I got the "Illegal Dunlops 245/35/18's" for $100 ea new. For the price oh well I guess I can just run Non-Comp if anyone whines!!

I would be happy to run against anyone, the more Competition the better it will make me better. I can always use the advise.

Some people take things way too serious!! The peeps up here don't nitpick everyone else's car. It's not like I'm in the Pro Solo Tour. It's more about fun and friendly competition then anything. Its not like the tires are any better then others, if anything they are worse then what everyone else runs.

I would definitely like an even go wit ya CRX.

Hey Team what's your real name so I can track your performance at DC Region? You don't ever have anything constructive to say do you? Oh but your God

edited: Look, don't bring your hurt feelings over me pointing out that a simple search was all you needed to find the answer to your question in the other forum to this one. All I did was invite you down to run at the DC Pro. I didn't say I was going to win or anything. For all I know you and everyone else will stomp me into the ground ... so please just drop the personal BS.

Ok, walk up to the Garfields and tell them what you told me above. See if the what I said is incorrect. Or any other national level auto-xer at WDCR.

They'll say the same thing I did. The tires didn't come in enough sizes, therefore they're illegal.

I only stated it so you *don't* go to a tour/pro with illegal tires. If you know they're illegal, fine. If your competitors know they're illegal? Fine. No big deal. Again.. locally, things *can* bend a little more. WHen you go to a tour/pro... yeah, you might run into problems with the illegal equpment. It wasn't an attack.... it was just a statement and notification.

1st off it's *You're*.

And that quote above is so funny on so many levels. It shows you have quite a bit to learn about the sport, and the people in it. For instance... this isn't a WDCR regional board that you posted on. It's filled with people from all around this counrty. Baghead doesn't have to be from WDCR to comment in this thread. So there's your hint... he's not from WDCR. I'm actually closer to WDCR than he is.

So you got a good deal on tires and wheels that are not stock legal.

Good news is you can replace the tires with faster legal ones and you might be able to have some work done on the wheels to get them in spec. It is a shame they don't make those in the right offset because they are a great buy.

Oh wow, the wheels are illegal too?

Sweet! Even more info to e-mail to the Garfields.... that is if the poster doesn't man up and tell them 1st.

If it was just the tires, I'd be cool with it on the local level. Tires + Wheels? Yeah... not so much. Look up the STU class at WDCR.

Oh boys, Enkei RP02? With ET35? Hahahah, I'm sure someone somewhere sometime is gonna have a ball with the wheel too, just like the tire in term of legality.

Anyway, I have the utmost respect for the rules of game. I never thought about running Dunlop SP SSR in SCCA since I first started using them in non-SCCA venues. Now that I'm running solely with SCCA, I will definitely steer clear of infractions as soon as SSR is done. I'd love to attend Devens Natl Tour in Jun/06, though I would rather not have to deal with buying new V710 (old by next yr) or legal-but-worn Hoosiers/V710 (cost). Good thing that Philly SCCA is well represented by Natl-level drivers to use as benchmarks while still developing one's skills.

Lastly, TeamRX8 is quite a nice guy when he tries. A lot of people may not agree with his approach/tone/attitude, but I value his inputs as much as the other National drivers here. Let's just all be friends =)

ps. 4/23/06 is gonna be fun if you decide to run Street too!

The RPO2 18X8 for the RX8 is 42mm. Stock is 50mm and you are allowed a 1/4" or 6.35mm. So an off set of 56.35 to 43.65 is legal. It is not much but you have to draw the line somewhere.

To expand, RP02 is available in both ET35/42. So either way, it's not gonna cut it

I was thinking about getting a set for rains so I called around on getting them machined to legal offset. I can not find anyone with a big enough lathe to cut them so no cheap fix. I found a place that will do it on a CNC machine, $350-$400 for the set. Still that is not bad you would be into it about $900 for stock legal fairly light set of wheels. Question is when you take 1.65ish mm off will it be strong enough.

you might as well use OE wheels for rain tires, there's no point having a 2 or 3 lb lighter wheel for that situation

True but I would use them as street wheel the rest of the year. I am not in love with the stock wheel.

Hey where did you get the 'illegal Dunlops' in that size? Still available? I didn't see them on Tire Rack. I had the 225/17 on my previous car and it was a nice tire to have for mixed HPDE/AutoX use and at the same time be able to drive to & from the event w/ them on.

Tire rack used to sell them and last year sometime put them on special discount... and now they're no longer.
