I think it's time for new tires.

I was feeling a little weak at the event yesterday... turns out I seem to have a nice stomach flu. Great way to spend the holiday.

Thanks Loren and Erica!

MP5, nice avatar. I remember taking that one. (did you recently change your avatar to that, or am I just slow)
Hope you feel better soon. I hate flus

on a side note, I wonder why the car handled so differant from this event to the last event. nothing changed what so ever other then the temprature. last event It was very cold AND we were spraying tghe tires. this event it was MUCH warmer, borderline hot, and we did not spray the tires. thats the only differance I can think of. and the car was night and day differance.

all well, lets just hope the tires/car drives the same at the next event. the alignment should be fixed by then also. I am going to splurge and have the car done the right way. (then I will bring the car home and check the settings to see if my numbers come up with the same as theirs.)

What did the car do? The last cal club event I did my car was tight, push, but the course was very slow and the turns were very tight. This event the course was all medium speed turns with long fast straits between them, those higher speeds and bigger radius turns made for a loose car. I have the car setup that with just a few lbs +/- of rear air pressure I can work around the tight or loose condition.

btw there is a night and day difference between a tire that is to hot or to cold, they need to be just right.

I take it you have put in a drop event.... Yep better get some tires and go for max points next month when KW is gone. You should sign up for the Evo practice this weekend and kill off your old ones.

there is a good chance Michelle any myself will not be at the next event either. (thanks Keith) so I dont think points will be a problem a the next event.

The car had absolutly no traction. not just front or rear but all four tires. It felt like I was driving in rain. maybe not THAT bad, but it was pretty bad. the weatehr was ver cold. I would blame it on the Ice cold tires, but everyone else seemed to do fine???

I dont think Sean wants to be added to the cup. I personally say add him, it helps mess with the points maybe make it a little more interesting. but hey, thats just my .02 I dont care either way.

You need to keep the V710 cool to go fast, with two drivers it is easy to overheat them. How many runs on those now? You get into the 80-100 run range and they go away. Perfect time to sign up for one of the El Toro events, you can run old tires there and still have grip.

I know, thats why I thought it was odd I had the opposite reaction. last race it was cold and we were spraying the tires every now and then. they were crap.

this time it was hot and I didnt even spray them untill my 3rd run. they were great!

my car and myself are just retarded.

oh yeah... I dont know how many runs. I dont monitor these tires like I did the last set :/ I would guess in the 60 -70 range??? maybe a little more.

Yeah as they get old and hard a little heat helps to get some grip out of them.

Congrats to Casey and Rick, both performed well at this event.

I was getting gready with my third run, trying to get Jason I's time. I had a really quick run going into the slalom, was pushing it hard to get extra time out since i had run the slalom slow the previous two laps....and got overstear exiting the second cone. I was fishtailing through the final two slalom cones and came close to nearly stopping to grab control back. Bogged all the way through the finish.

Casey came in and sqeaked right by me. The guy at the finish, who was handing out time slips, was having fun watching our competition. When I came in for that final timeslip, he was just pointing at Casey ahead of me....and I knew that Casey had taken the win.

Erica and I will be out for the June and July events....so we'll see you next at the night event in August.

Thanks Keith. yeah that was a close one! I like the close races. makes it fun.

I did the same thing, but played it safe. I knew the lap was fast so I took it somewhat easy through that last slolom. I didnt want to ruin a good time. had you not goofed up I htink you would have taken the win. (I to should have pushed a little harder at the finish. I know that run would have been a high 51 rather then my 52.09x)

Thanks Keith... and only 2.5 seconds off Ulllose's pace! Big thanks to Ulllose once again for saving my day. A bad valve stem core had air bleeding out the right rear--Ulllose found someone with a spare core and tool and made the repair. I'll be purchasing spare cores and the tool before the next event... it'll probably never have it happen again, but I'll be prepared to help someone else. I was working the left-hander before the slalom--nice recovery; I thought you were going to lose it!

Its amazing to think how far I've come.....I was explaining to Ullose at lunch, that I know I have a fast car....but I can't yet go that fast. I have a difficult time with reaction time with fast courses, the course seems to come up on me too quickly. I seem to do better on tighter, slower courses...or on courses such as the last two we've had that are very predictable and easy to memorize on the course walk.

Ullose comment to me was....seat time. This is definately true. I am looking at what Erica is doing as well, with respect to seat time. I have more events than her, as I started before her...but she is catching up quickly. She blew me away with how well she did at this event.

The last couple of Cal Club courses have been good....with this event, it was heavy on fast paced sweepers. The previous event was slalom heavy. It is nice to have a consistent course to work on developing/practicing driving skill with each type of course.

Rick, I remember you saying down in San Diego, that you were frustrated with your progress with the 8, that you just couldn't seem to go faster. Maybe this is the same thing that I am experiencing?

Not sure if he will be driving my car that often. It's more of a backup plan for him in case he wants to run CalClub and not worry about transporting tires. It won't affect the points at all unless he manages to get the 100.

Sounds like most of us will miss the 6/24 event. I was also planning on ditching (conflict with SDR). I should be at the divisional in July. Maybe I can cord my tires on day 1, and then swap in your extra set?

Jason and I were talking about the divisional issue over lunch with George. I wasn't convinced that this was actually going to happen?

Hmmmm what to do..... Run CC on the 24th and go for an easy 100. Or run in SD and let Rick get 100 at CC just to screw up things for the guys chasing me. I am starting to hate both places, the CC courses have just been sucking major @ss and the surface in SD has gone to $hit.

I personally dont htink you need the easy 100 points. every time you com eout you get 100. its going to be a race for 2nd again.

It really comes down to weather or not you want to run Fontana or SD that day.

the only reason I would take the easy 100 is so you can skip a day another time???

That event in SD was tough. Brand new 710s and my co-driver who hadn't driven the car but a couple times spanked me. We bought X cards and ran the afternoon as well. Whenever I feel frustrated I try to get a co-driver to run the car with me at an event. Swapping runs rather running three in a row each help provide feedback between drivers to discuss driving line, tire pressures, etc. A tip from Ulllose on tire pressures at the Atwater Tour helped a lot. I'm still frustrated (I suck). More seat time is what I need.

well, handing the 100 to Rick would be a chariteable thing to do...but if Rick doesn't show, that leaves the 100 to those guys in BSST......

Have you had a "hard" 100 since running the RX8 cup...really?

Ullose is great source of information. I am very thankful for any and all knowledge that he provides. One of the tidbits he gave Casey and I this time was that our strategy at the start was completely wrong. He pointed out that it was quicker/faster to take the short route towards the starting lights, rather than our round-about way that resulted in us burning up rubber as we approached the lights.

Just when you think you know something.....

...I don't know if seat time, alone, will make up for what I still need in this sport.
