This is by far one of the most frustrating sports, right up there with golf, it is also one of the hardest in which to amass a lot of practice. It took me five years to win my first natl level event and be what I consider a competitive driver. I was very lucky I had Tom Kotzian, multi time natl champ and evo instructor, to help me along the way. There was nothing better than the day I beat him for the first time.

If you want some more seat time sign up for the Evo practice: http://www.blackwatchracing.com/shop...products=motor

It will use the left side Prosolo course, which was a blast, and there are Evo guys to help you.

and in 5 years I hope to beat you once or twice. I might have to spray your tires with WD-40 first.... but hey, I'll take it any way I can get it.

Seriously, Keith is right, we have said it before. We are Very lucky to have you and Jason to help us along. I like to think we are cathing on, but we still get bitch slaped every now and then and reminded how much more you know about this sport then we do. (and of course how much better you are)

Keith, just an FYI

Tom ran a 48.5 and the black S2000 ran a 49.1

I have got to learn how to drive better, I just dont see another 3 seconds out there.

I still cant beat the BS RX-8s in a car that has wider tires. (and springs, and flywheel, and intake, and pulleys, and....)

Oh, there definately was at least 1.0-1.5 seconds more out there for me...but like I said earlier....I am having a hard time going that fast. I am learning a lot about how to set up my lines and how to handle different reactions that car has to my driving. I would love to be able to push it 100% for an entire course, but there are still certain manuevers and turn types I am not good at...so I feel like I am taking them at 80%. I am still doing a lot of lifting....I'm happy withy my braking, but at times (in those turns I still am learning), I get back to bad habits of holding the brake like you would on the street approaching a red light, rather than the on/off method I use on other sections.

Plenty of time out there.....enough to beat a national type driver, with more experience in a better prepped car....not that much time

I stopped by the Evo practice at El Toro today and got to drive some fun cars. The Ex Hui 968 BS Porsche.... Was nothing like the RX8, felt like a truck and I could not make it go fast. The highlight was getting to drive Uyeda's BSP S2000, the black one, that thing hauls @ss. No way I can see a RX8 ever matching it, so light and nimble, point it anywhere on the course and it will go.

yeah that car looks like it hauls ***. if its as fast as it looks it must be one hell of a ride.

I cant remember off hand, did the S2000 beat the Evo at the last race??? (I dont think it did)

Just to let everyone know that I am staying home and doing decals for a job right now. So if you guys know anyone that needs numbers or anything let me know. I'm hoping this can work out. Just getting my name out is the hard part right now.

He definately knows how to spend money correctly on his rides...and it can't hurt that he drives well too.

What do you think would happen if the Berry Evo was put on street tires...or the Uyeda Evo was put on R compounds...any predictions how the results would turn up?

968? Was that the red one with the Lite Cubes stickers on it? The one I saw when I came down to SD?

Yeah I asked him if it was possible to duplicate his car for $10k. He said you could get 95% there for $10k if you cut some corners, but to do it right for SP you are looking at $15k. The bad news for the rest of BSP is the S2K will weigh less next season. With the Club Sport S2K coming out he will be able to update his car to the CS specs which will allow him to remove the soft top and all hardware, should be another 60-70lbs off the car. He still thinks the Evo is the top BSP car, I agree, but he said the S2k is to fun to not drive and I agree with that also.

You could not compare the Berry and Uyeda Evos even if you change tires. Berry's car has unlimited boost, light flywheel and can change the LSD's which Uyeda's STU car can not do. So even if you have them on the same tires Berry's car will always be faster.

btw I also got to drive the Whitehead STS civic and Max's STU STI. I sucked in the Honda but with each of us taking one run in the STI I was able to beat Max in his own car. He made a small change to the car after I drove it and he picked up so time and got by me and I did not get another run in it. The car was way easy to drive, he has it set up very well, my only issue was trying to get it to stop on street tires. Anyone that has ridden with me knows I like to hammer the brakes and ST tires do not like that at all.

Yeah that was the Red Litecube 968 in SD. I did two runs in it and sucked, one of the car owners was like 1.5 ahead of me. Then I did one run in Barbra's RX8, with her in the passengers seat and I was .5 ahead of the 968. The 968 needs a big front swaybar, it was terrible in slaloms and it would spin the inside tire in right and left hand turns.

It amazing to me that you can get into a car and drive it the way you do, without the seat time behind the wheel on each of those cars. Even more amazing is to be able to feel the car response in the manner that you do.

May Autocross pics are up.

http://public.fotki.com/makofoto/200...ent/page4.html

Mako got pics of my squirrly action in the slalom on that third and final run.

It is rather amazing to see how close I came to the cone when attempting to recover...and then in the second picture (past the cone)...to see the inside front wheel lifting off the ground and how close the bumper got to the ground on the drivers side.

At least I turned my signal on

MP5...can you "grab" any of these images?

Erica had a couple of cool shots as well.

Your co-driver will be co-driving my RX-8 at SFR Event 12. He put on a show this past weekend by taking 2nd top raw time, http://www.sfrscca.org/solo2/Results...d10_lists.html. The course suit big fat R-comp and high HP (in the right place that is), but also reward transition, such as his ASP RX-7.

We may or may not do Packwood, depending on how sucky we are in the next few events.

^good job by Reza, but I would disagree that it was a course which required HP...it was, imho, totally speed maintenence. The DS guys were on fire, great competition led to great times

I know I left at least .5 out there, probably more, without even approaching the "perfect" run...which doesn't exist, anyhow!

Yeah, that Mazdaspeed Protege had some seriously stiff suspension. He was getting three wheels on most every corner.

Can you imagine the money the Lotus owner has...to go out and buy a car like that, and then turn it into a devoted race/track car....WOW.

He also has an M3 with a turbo. Move to AZ where he lives and you can own lots of cool toys because your house will cost half as much.

No need, those images aren't protected. You can just right-click, save as. You just have to live with the big "Makofoto 2007".

It is... On my last run I did not do that and I went faster. How far back were you?
