^It doesn't help that certain dealers are selling new 2008 base 6MT's for $19,999...totally screws the resale, for sure.

What do you mean... suspension problem?

Also, this forum ruins the reasle value as they let people post all these negative things on the RX8.

Kieth... your best bet is to trade it in on a used daily driver w/good MPG.
You probably will get a better deal on a new car as they will do anything to sell a new car.

I have two freinds that sell cars. One is MOPAR and the other Chevy.

You need a Civic or Camary. or go super cheap w/ a Fit or something similar.

Denward had recently replaced his Koni/Vaughtland combo with a pair of JIC coilovers which were used by a race team. The rears had shifted somewhere during the 8 runs. The collars that you use to adjust height and preload and completely loosened and the spring was no longer held tightly in the perch. The spring had a good inch of slop where it was no engaged either at the top or the bottom of the perch. This happened on both sides.

As for car....My car is worth about 12 as a trade in....5 grand upside down from what I owe. Cars are never worth anything as trade ins, as the dealer uses the trade in to build some more profit into the deal for them. Also, the modifications that are on the vehicle are worth nothing as a trade in, but MAY be worth something to a private party sell...if I find a buyer who wants what I have on the car. We will most likely do a trade in on the White 8...when the time comes..but will return that car to stock as much as possible...cause, again, the modifications on the vehicle are worth nothing to a dealer.

I will not buy a used car...that is just me. We have looked at several options, and at this point, need a medium sized car as we will only have that car, and a chevy truck with is already paid off. The car will be used for my primary driver, as well as any other driving we do outside of work.

Looked at a couple of options. VW Jetta, Nissan Altima, Nissan Sentra, Honda Civic, Mitsubishi Lancer. Right now, the Lancer looks like the best deal given price and the 10 year warranty. Anyone have any feedback on the cars listed above? I know very few people whom own VW's...so I don't know anything about reliability on those cars. The price is high, the warranty is only for 36k miles...which I would use up only after a year and a half. Anyone have any feedback on the Lancer. It is newly designed, but does anyone know a person who owns one?

edit: also...I'm not a good candidate for a lease as I drive more than 25k miles a year on my car, and this is just for work. Nissan Altima looks to be too much of a car right now...we don't need something that big. We also want to keep the car under 20k so that payments are under 400 per month.

Thank you Keith for letting me drive your car!!! It is nice being able to finish off the season in BSP!

Did you notice Aaron was only .001 behind you!??!? I dont mean that in a rub it in your nose way, I just mean wow, its fun having a few drivers/cars so close to each other. last time we were .003 seconds, usually we are less then .1 apart. this time there was a .001 margin.... amazing!

I hope we can keep it that close when we move to CSP next year.

Jason, thanks for letting me drive your car on my 3rd run -- I actually drove slower in yours the two cars really felt different on turn-in; weight, front bar, exhaust (I could hear!), alignment, 40k miles vs 8k?, who knows - I sure don't, but I know I like yours better ...last time I try 1/8 tank with two drivers

wow...unbelievably upset with my third run...oh well. I guess that is why a season is not made up of only 5 or 6 events. I still don't know how it happened. I didn't feel the car getting unsettled....but it was that elevated section of the course....I just felt like such an idiot as I didn't see any other cars lose it there.

December should be interesting....last event for the RX8's, the RX8 cup, and BSP.

Keith, you were not the only one that lost it there, I saw several people loose it there.

During the fun runs I was standing there picking up cones, it was a hot spot even after the races.

it is probably related to drops. Both Casey and I have missed a couple of Cal Club events...

..I believe he is leading me in raw points at Cal Club as well.

no I am not.. you are leading me in raw points by a lot.

that is intresting though.

looks like I will have to beat keith by about .4 of a second... in order for me to take it... I doubt I will as that is not normal for us... we are usually under a tenth from each other, last event was a fluke. but it IS possible.

Maybe I will pay Barry off so I can drive his car.

It has to due with the cup points being based off your times vs. CalClub being based just on BSP. Casey ends up dropping a different event in the 2 results. Also, they use a different formula that penalizes you more for being off the pace.

Congrats to keith for the BSP championship!

Keith pulled out some great times, as did Aaron, I just could not get the car to grip, it was like driving on ice for the first two laps. I was a crawling 1.4 seconds off the pace! Keith and I are usually tenths of seconds within each other, I have never been that far behind before.

none the less, Keith pulled it off with a bang!

all well, on to next year!
