2007 Season So Cal Auto Cross Thread

yeah there seems to be a lot of people upset about it. I dont think its cool at all either.
but how do they have you paying ten more then normal? I thought it was still $25? (plus $15 if you need the SCCA weekend pass, but you dont need that)
EDIT: oh I see
$30 - SCCA members & points card holders
$35 - SCCA members only
$40 - No points card or SCCA membership
so thet raised the base price $5 for us card holders, then tack on another $5 for non card holders but still SCCA members.
wow going off the above if you are not an SCCA member, you would pay $40 PLUS the $15 weekend fee. so it would cost $55 fo someone to come and play! WOW!
Thats crazy! I know my dad would love to come and play once or twice, but not for that price! thats alot of money for 3 minutes of fun.
hell $30 is a lot of money for 3 minutes of run time. thats $10 a lap. AND I had to pay the $80 SCCA fee.
why dont I just go road racing. it would cost less. (ok not really, but still.) This is supposed to be low cost grass roots racing isnt it? $10 a lap in its cheapest form is NOT low cost. and thats not counting the $80 a year SCCA fee, OR the $35 a year CSCC fee. if all you did was race, what does that break down to a lap, like ~$15.

oh wow.... so its more like $25+$15 for them.
that makes no sence. :-/
so we get penalized, and they dont?..... and we are points card holders that show up to every event. why not LOWER our price? I think we should be paying more like $15 or $20 (which still seems high when you consider track time.)

Hmmm, maybe the trick stuff was too much trick for RX-8 to handle =)
I suppose that I'll try out MTG since there is no evidence of anyone on the board having bad experience with MTG specifically. After all, it's GL-4, formulated for manual trans.

I see what you guys are saying, regarding CC Solo II pricing, but they have to do something, right? You can't operate at a loss for too long...
Seems to me, in any major metro area, $30-35 is going to be the minimum entry fee to be able to make it happen, with a reasonable amount of entries. Maybe their entry fees were too low, for too long?

I understand that they cont opperate at a loss.
but when you consider how much you pay per lap it makes you wonder if the bang is worth the buck.
Now I am all bark and no bite. I will still auto cross. I enjoy it, it gives me something to look forward to. I enjoy the crowd. but like I said, if you think about how much I (we) pay to race 3 laps, one would think I am an idiot.

This may be the wrong thread to post this, but... You can get on a track and have an hour or more of track time for maybe $150.
Get with the right group on the right day, it may cost you less, and you could end up with so much time you just pack it in because you're tired.
Your tire and brake pad bill will go up, though.
Once I figured that out, my interest in autocross fell off a cliff.
