"ALT" 18x8 forged wheels

Anyone ever look into these wheels? Looks like they have the right bolt pattern, size and offset but the hubcenter is too small. The listed weight is 18.5lbs and it's a nice clean design.....

I talked to those guys a few weeks ago about a project we have going on at work. They will open up the hub center for you, extra charge. I don't have the info here, it is at work, I seem to recall them being more than a set of SSRs.

If they're heavier and more expensive then the SSR's I would not be interested in them. I do think they look nice and if they could be had for around $1000 a set I would consider them....Oh well, thought I would ask. Thanks,

I wonder if there is any significant difference in the hub's strength, as that is an area that can be subject to big loading, particularly if a lug nut loosens...I don't ever remember seeing any real race wheels with "uni lug" type hubs, but most of the wheels I've had are either for big hp applications or Formula cars

Yeah, it's tough to beat the OZ wheel.....Especially in black. Too bad I'm such a cheap a$$ and always looking for the deal. Plus, I think they're out of stock of the black wheels.

I'm also thinking about the Rota P1 in black but then you have to have the hub center drilled out which may or may not be worth hassle. You can get the P1's for about $800 from Subydude.com predrilled. Maybe less if I can get a groupbuy together......

I just ordered a set of P1's from Subydude (like less than an hour ago). It was $850 shipped with the custom center bore. They even have some in stock that are already bored. It's pretty much no extra work on your end beyond telling them that you're putting them on a Mazda.

at 20 lbs each you might as well save your money and buy a used set of OE wheels ...

19.2 lbs, and that is before you machine them to fit an RX-8... Could be all the way down to 19.1.

I already have a set of OE wheels with 710's.......The problem with any of these wheels would be that I would have to give up my endless search of the cheapest, strongest and lightest BS legal wheel....What fun is that?

Oh yeah, I would pay a premium for wheels that weigh 16.3 lbs just to say I have them.....

Well, since I'm just competing regionally where we have a street tire class, and these wheels will double as street wheels, and the Rotas cost significantly less than the OZ's and SSR's, and...a whole list of other excuses, I found that the P1 was the lightest wheel in a price range that I could justify. Also, I'm really just not good enough to notice a 2 lb difference in wheel weight.
