another time slip to analyze 1/8 mile

I'm trying to get the wife a little more involved in the car sporting world so last night i took her to the local drag strip and had her run the car. She was so nervous everytime she was shaking like a leaf so her times are not that great this I already know so no bashing is needed. I'm really just looking for a few draggers to check the times and see how the runs are. She had 5 runs these 2 being the best the other 2 are close to the 10.567 and 1 red light. On that run she just keep rolling and rolling till well after the box . She was having trouble getting the rpm's up once she staged "lights were to fast" so we really have no idea on what rpms she was launching except for run 2. 5,000 feather

run 1 run 2
reaction 1.267 reaction .506
60 ft. 2.545 60 ft. 2.336
330 ft. 6.995 330 ft. 6.569
594 ft. 9.916 594 ft. 9.418
1/8 10.567 1/8 10.056
MPH 69.02 MPH 70.54

And tonight she autoX's. this is going to be fun

1/8 mile is all about sixty foot, and she pulled off a 2.336
It's not a spectacular sixty foot, but it's also not bad... a commendable effort. She should be proud.

I would imagine many of the nut-swingers around here that think drag racing is easy would have a tough time getting a 2.3 60' the first time they ever race.

the lights do drop fast. and the first few times i was shaking too.

personally, i like a 4.5k feather. but thats a feather thats absolutely slamming the gas too.

ideally, she wants to shoot for an 330' around 6.0-6.1 and a 1/8 around 9.3-9.4.

I'm assuming it's a standard?

Not that I'm a veteran drag racer or anything but I've never seen a 1/8 of a mile drag track?

@ Kersh4w 9.3 1/8 of a mile is really hard to do in a stock 8. I'm doing 9.2 under spray. Maybe my car is just a really slow hunk of junk <shrug>
It can't be the driver

wtf.

i have a run with a 6.03 330' and a 9.3 1/8th mile. my 330' is nearly .4 seconds faster than yours, and you end up .1 faster than me?

how the hell did you make up .5 seconds in the last half?

maybe pullies and grounding kits actually work...

MY best 1/8 (and Ive run it in the 8 probably 50+ times now) are consistantly low 9.2-high 9.1 with a 2.0-2.1 60ft. I launch at 5k, and I dont really feather it, just let the wheels spin a bit and hold on. I find it gets better times than easing out the clutch.

For her first time out thats not bad at.
