Any Road Course Racing Enthusiasts in NJ area??
Granted, we all love to drag race, but are there any enthusiast on this board that enjoy taking their rides corner carving? Whose up for some road racing and get together May 26th-28 Thurs-Sat?? I'm talking an adrenaline junkies' dream!

This is an event that I am putting together. As there will be no official $pon$or$hip at this time, I need to get 25 cars registered to get the track for a day as part of a 2-3 day event. But as you guys probably already know, most people prefer the 'thrill' of and have only the 'skill' for drag racing. I prefer the challenges of bonding with my vehicle corner after corner.
ANYHOW...as its hard to find one source for real road course enthusiasts, I'm asking around on a few different place to piece together a rag tag group of diehards, regardless of vehicle make/model. As of now it's coming out to $435 a head if I can get 25 cars. If we can get 50 I can get catered meals for the day and a few other extra fun activities.
Sorry elysium, it would be on Lightning again.

I just bought an 05, im from south jersey (right outside of philly). Im currently living in yorktown,va, but definitely wouldn't mind taking a trip up to jersey to meet some new ppl and get some advice on this car. Im not interested in entering anything yet bc this is my first time driving stick so im not very experienced yet. Whereabouts in jersey are you thinking about holding this event? Atco raceway?

True, you should check out www.motorsportsreg.com. That's one on the main central clearinghouses for all groups doing DEs. There is a heavy schedule of them at NJMP, so just join in and get your feet wet
Putting together a DE is no easy task, takes lots of people, $$$, lots of organization, and to have a safe event, a lot of instructors, flaggers, ambulance crew, etc. You'd be better off using the resources available from clubs such as the BMWCCA, various regional Audi Clubs, SCDA, various regional Porsche Clubs, plus many more. $400+ is fairly expensive for a day of track, $200-300 is more common, and that's with you not doing the hard work, just driving.
Not sure who you consider 'most people', but around here, and with RX-8s, it's a fairly small number who would consider 'drag racing' as even something to do at all, no less calling it a thrill. Heck, on a road course you can do the 'drag race' for all intents numerous times in one circuit around a track fcol
